Description

Swiss American Sausage Co. has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Storeroom Clerk. Successful candidates will work in our modern food processing facility located in Lathrop CA and enjoy competitive wages along with competitive health and retirement benefits. The position is during first shift but specific hours/schedules will be discussed during the interview process. Salary: The base pay range is $18.50 $25.75 per hour. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to jobrelated knowledge skill set level of experience and specific job location.

The incumbent is responsible for transactions relating to the ordering and inventory tracking/accuracy of mechanical parts. Basic accounting and analytic skills are needed for this position. The various software applications necessary to complete this positions job functions include: EAM Datastream 7I Outlook Lotus Notes and Microsoft Excel.

  1. Maintains mechanical parts inventory. (35%)
    1. Identifies and organizes mechanical parts.
    2. Verifies all receipts of mechanical parts and puts away as needed.
    3. Obtains part usage information from sources such as completed work orders and preventative maintenance paperwork.
    4. Removes obsolete parts from inventory.
  2. Enters purchase requisitions in order to generate orders of mechanical parts and expedites as required. (25%)
    1. Obtains information for which parts to order from mechanics as well as system generated order alerts.
    2. Determines whether or not order quantity is reasonable.
    3. Obtains approval of mechanical supervisor when cost of parts being ordered is greater than approximately $500.
    4. Researches alternative pricing options if OEM (original equipment manufacturer) pricing is high.
  3. Verifies mechanical parts inventories. (15%)
    1. Performs cycle counts on mechanical parts inventory items per company policy.
      1. Determines number of items to be counted on a weekly basis.
      2. Obtains list of items to be counted from inventory system.
      3. Verifies system inventory via physical count and update inventory system as needed.
      4. Reviews significant discrepancies with management.
  4. Maintains preventative maintenance program. (15%)
    1. Enters maintenance schedule data as directed by maintenance engineer.
    2. Prints and distributes work orders to assigned mechanics.
    3. Runs monthly reports.
  5. Prepares and generates reports as needed for and requested by management.
    1. Prepares various engineering letters and reports.
    2. Maintains mechanical delay charts and preventative maintenance performance reports.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of inventory/parts experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and with vendors in oral/written form in the English language.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use various software programs including MS Office the companys EAM system and other software programs.
  • Ability to climb stairs ladders lift to 50 pounds push/pull/carry/crouch/kneel/reach/bend and work in an industrial setting.

Working conditions: Work station is located within the maintenance shop area. The person will be exposed to and access processing areas maintenance shop industrial equipment and office areas as needed to perform the various tasks and responsibilities of the position. The person may expect to encounter industrial noise and cold temperatures when in the plant/shipping areas.
