About Marie Philip School:MPS enrolls nearly 200 deaf and hard of hearing students on our Framingham MA campus in an ASL/English bilingual bicultural educational model. About Support Services:Provide services for pediatric deaf/hard of hearing population ages 319 with diagnoses such as learning disabilities developmental delays cerebral palsy failure to thrive emotional/behavioral concerns. Responsibilities include direct treatment assessment consultation to teachers and IEP goal development. Intervention services are designed to enhance the students potential for learning to assist the student in acquiring those functional performance skills needed to participate in and benefit from the educational environment and to help the student function SUMMARY:The Speech and Language Pathologist assesses the communication and language abilities (signed written and/or spoken) of students (using formal and informal assessment tools) in terms of present functioning and future potential and determining the most effective modalities for development of proficient language and communication abilities and/or remediation. The Speech and Language Pathologist provides speechlanguage services in coordination with the students IEP to support their communication and language AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Assess communication skills conduct thorough triannual assessments and determine appropriate speech language and pragmatics goals for each an individual communication/speechlanguage program for each student involving written goals and strategies to be implemented and documents progress. In addition participates as a member of each students educational TEAMattending IEP and planning meetings direct service to students in the areas of language development (signed written and/or spoken) spoken English and listening skills communication strategies and socialpragmatics in either a onetoone therapy setting or small group regularly with parents teachers therapists (both in school and with those serving the student outside of school) regarding student progress to provide wellintegrated services across disciplines as appropriate settings and plan and troubleshoot hearing aids and cochlear implants as regularly with CI Center that follows each student who utilizes a cochlear lifting may be required when working with young students or students with special needs however TLC embraces and celebrates a spirit of inclusion and diversity and reasonable accommodations and modifications will be made whenever possible. The diversity of our student population may require that some assignments have a heavier physical responsibility due to other tasks as assigned by the Department Supervisor and/or Program Leader.
