TITLE: SUMMER MUSIC CAMP TEACHER
*Number of positions will be based on camp enrollment
POSITION SUMMARY:
The summer music camp is open to all Bellingham students in incoming grades 58 as of the fall. Staff members will teach a variety of areas including but not limited to: band chorus ukulele world drumming full session rhythm activities singing and other music exploratory experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Select appropriate literature and curriculum materials that develop musicianship independence and technique for a 1week music program in a variety of settings: instrumental choral and music appreciation.
- Differentiate instruction and coaching to accelerate learning and close achievement gaps
- Teach and coach students in the fundamentals of music ensemble playing tone quality balance and blend intonation tempo articulation/diction expression style & phrasing
- As a faculty team develop 4 independent rhythmbased lessons as integral sessions for each day of camp.
- As a faculty team develop 4 breathing posture and stretching lessons as integral sessions for each day of camp.
- Design fun and engaging lessons that encourage respect compassion and inclusive and teambuilding strategies.
- Prepare an end of the camp narrative summary about the program student work areas of success and areas for improvement for the future
- Ensure district and school safety protocols are maintained when applicable
- Supervise students at arrival dismissal and break times.
- Additional duties as assigned by the Camp Coordinator or Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum Instruction & Professional Development
- Follow all applicable district and school rules.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES and/or DEGREE REQUIREMENTS:
- MA DESE Educators License Music grades Prek12 required.
- Member of Bellingham Public Schools preferred.
SALARY: $33/hour per BTA contract 4 hours of camp per day plus 1 hour prep.
*Additional hours for Camp Coordinator as needed for registration and enrollment logistics.
SCHEDULE: Staff hours:7:30am12:30pm
Student hours: 8:00am12:00pm
Monday June 23rd until Friday June 27th
