Job Description

Revere Public Schools seeks an individual with strong public engagement and bilingual language skills to serve as a Security/Translator for the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.
The Security/Translator plays a critical role in maintaining a safe welcoming and secure building and is responsible for facilitating respectful communication in a diverse multicultural multiethnic and multilingual environment.
Successful candidates will work under the purview of the Superintendent of Schools Assistant Superintendent of Pupil & Personnel Services and will report primarily to the Principals and Assistant Principals of the Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.
Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to
  • Greet visitors and facilitate appropriate connections to school staff ensuring proper identification and sign in prior to admission to secured areas.
  • Enforce school policies with all visitors and members of the school community.
  • Monitor common areas including hallways and stairwells during class sessions and transitions and oversee cafeteria recess and other activities to insure orderly conduct resolution of problems emergencies etc.
  • Provide interpreting and translation services for the main office at meetings and in conferences including conversations among school staff caregivers and others.
  • Translate written correspondence for families whose primary language is not English
  • Assist in the main office answering phones generating and translating monthly calendar tracking attendance and other office duties.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by the principal to facilitate the daily operation of the building.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Google Suite MS Word and Excel.
  • Ability to enforce rules and regulations.
  • Strong work ethic and reliable attendance.
  • Knowledge of school district and state discipline policies and laws.
  • Knowledge of school district and state student privacy policies and laws.
  • Ability to effectively deescalate contentious situations.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish with the ability to interpret the spoken and translate the written languages.

Compensation: This is full time 8 working hours per day Monday through Friday for the 43 weeks of the school year (185.5 days.) Position includes health dental and paid leave benefits Rate is $17/hour
