Team Overview
BlackRock SMA Solutions helps clients customize portfolios for unique tax valuesalignment or investment exposures across direct indexing fixed income active equity and multiasset. About this Role:
The role will focus on engineering technical solutions to enhance the trading and implementation functions of active portfolio management. The successful candidate will contribute to software development efforts aimed at implementing systematic solutions for trading a high volume of retail and institutional portfolios. This individual will possess strong analytical and quantitative skills a passion for investing and the markets and a demonstrated ability to collaborate with a wide range of partner teams and stakeholders. Outstanding attention to detail excellent interpersonal skills and a passion for critically thinking about technical solutions for retail portfolio investment management across and within asset classes will define the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deploy sophisticated algorithms to efficiently manage and rebalance SMAs ensuring optimal performance and alignment with investment strategies
Be proficient in understanding processes and applications quickly learn new systems/applications and have strong technology skills to develop and drive process efficiencies and automation of manual tasks
Design and implement advanced data handling techniques utilizing relational databases and APIs to ensure seamless integration and efficient data management
Evaluate emerging technologies to support innovation and strategic objectives
Lead projects and initiatives related to process improvement in investment management and trade support functions across equity multiasset and fixed income SMA portfolios
Write code that is understandable and maintainable by other team members
Mentor junior members of the team
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Engineering Computer Science or related field
23 years of experience in financial services in engineering or technology related role
Strong programming skills in Python or related experience with modern objectoriented languages (Java Scala etc.)
Solid knowledge of programming fundamentalsalgorithms data structures design patterns and paradigms
Familiarity with relational databases and SQL
Knowledge of containerized workloads and services such as Kubernetes to support building and releasing software components and deploying them to Kubernetes cluster
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Solid attention to detail and ability to prioritize responsibilities and ability to handle various tasks in a fastpaced environment
