COMPENSATION: $120000$140000 annual salary; Healthcare benefits are available for this role.

We help patients families survivors and caregivers navigate diagnosis and treatment options connect them with those who can share experiences and knowledge and identify resources to meet their needs. We partner with healthcare professionals and social influencers to raise awareness of preventative screening and we collaborate with researchers to better understand the disease and fund critical research. POSITION OVERVIEW:

At the Colorectal Cancer Alliance we are building an innovative patientcentric datadriven precision oncology platform to transform the future of colorectal cancer awareness care and research. Our core systems BlueHQ BlueLake and KSPY are designed to empower patients caregivers healthcare providers and researchers through scalable interoperable and AIready architectures.


By combining bestinclass technologies across AWS REDCap Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud MuleSoft and Amplify we deliver cuttingedge patient engagement clinical trial enablement realworld evidence generation and longitudinal outcomes tracking. Our work drives meaningful change in patient lives and scientific discovery while upholding the highest standards of data governance privacy and compliance.

We are looking for innovative missiondriven engineers to join our growing team and help build the infrastructure powering the next era of precision oncology medicine.

The Systems / Platform / Integration Engineer will play a critical role in architecting and operationalizing the infrastructure that powers our precision oncology platforms BlueHQ BlueLake and KSPY.

This position is responsible for designing scalable secure cloud architectures and integrating core systems including AWS services REDCap Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud MuleSoft APIs and Amplify patient portals.

The ideal candidate is passionate about building HIPAAcompliant interoperable platforms driving system integrations across clinical and engagement ecosystems and enabling realtime data flows (batch streaming zerocopy/federation API CDC) that support patient navigation clinical trials and realworld evidence generation. You will work closely with data engineers clinical program leaders and technology vendors to ensure platform health scalability security and usercentric performance across a rapidly evolving environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Build and maintain a scalable HIPAAcompliant cloud platform supporting patient engagement research registries navigation and analytics across BlueHQ BlueLake and KSPY.
  • Design and optimize centralized and federated architectures across AWS (EC2 S3 RDS/Aurora Glue SageMaker) Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud MuleSoft and REDCap.
  • Lead APIdriven interoperability initiatives building secure scalable integrations between clinical systems research registries patientfacing applications and Salesforce NPC.
  • Develop and manage realtime and batch orchestration using MuleSoft AWS API Gateway Lambda AppSync (GraphQL APIs) and EventBridge.
  • Enable semantic interoperability and metadataenriched integrations for patient navigation trial matching clinical research and longitudinal outcomes analytics.
  • ImplementOAuth 2.0 JWT API key management and finegrained access controls to meet HIPAA GDPR 21 CFR Part 11 and HITRUST requirements.
  • Maintain (CloudFormation Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines for Infrastructure as Code (IaC)automated deployment scaling security patching and disaster recovery.
  • Monitor and maintain system health using CloudWatch Datadog and automated anomaly detection.
  • Collaborate across cybersecurity data engineering clinical navigation research and fundraising teams to translate business needs into resilient system architectures.
  • Document system designs integration architectures operational workflows and security models.
  • Identify architectural improvements emerging technologies and optimizations to enhance platform resilience interoperability and user experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5 years in systems engineering platform integration or cloud infrastructure roles.
  • Deep handson expertise in AWS services:
    • Lambda API Gateway AppSync (GraphQL) Cognito RDS EC2 S3 EventBridge CloudFormation CloudWatch
  • Strong experience with integration platforms (MuleSoft AWS EventBridge or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in RESTful and GraphQL API design API security (OAuth 2.0 JWT) and RBAC.
  • Solid background in serverless architecture (Amplify SAM) and CI/CD pipeline automation (CodePipeline Jenkins GitHub Actions).
  • Strong understanding of multisystem orchestration across REDCap Salesforce AWS and MuleSoft.
  • Proven ability to design for scalability high availability and compliance (HIPAA GDPR 21 CFR Part 11).
  • Expertise in IAM encryption standards and audit logging for cloudbased systems.
  • Practical experience with observability frameworks (CloudWatch Datadog or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work crossfunctionally with clinical research and engineering teams.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate or Professional certification (required and active).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional certification.
  • Experience integrating REDCap (PHP backend) with cloud platforms and APIs.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud integration patterns and CRM flows.
  • Knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR HL7 OMOP CDISC).
  • Experience with knowledge graphs (RDF SPARQL) and semantic metadata governance.
  • Exposure to zerocopy architectures and federated access models (e.g. Dremio Athena Redshift Spectrum).
  • Handson with data lake design on AWS (S3 Glue Athena).
  • Practical InfrastructureasCode (IaC) experience (CloudFormation Terraform).
  • Proficiency in eventdriven architectures (SNS SQS EventBridge).
  • Experience supporting patient registries research data platforms or healthcare data systems.

SALARY RANGE:

Competitive nonprofit salary typically ranging from $ based on experience and qualifications.
