Our Real Estate Management Office is hiring a Vice President Real Estate Management. This executive leadership role provides strategic direction and oversight for the development implementation and performance of Metrolinxs corporate real estate strategy. The Vice President is accountable for managing a broad portfolio of initiatives and services including oversight of real estate leases and dispositions easements and related agreements and the operation and administration of Metrolinxs real estate assets. All activities are aligned with the organizations overall business objectives. This role also requires managing critical relationships and leading complex negotiations with senior government officials real estate industry leaders and community stakeholders.
What will I be doing
- Direct and provide strategic leadership of the Real Estate Management (REM) business unit.
- Lead the development implementation and performance of Metrolinxs corporate real estate strategy initiatives and services.
- Oversee the Real Estate Asset Management function by ensuring real estate portfolio performance ismaximized based on feasibility/market analysis and aligned with Metrolinx objectives; portfolio risk is identified and mitigated; performance metrics KPIs and market research is communicated; technology and data integration is implemented that supports all REM functions; and contracts are monitored managed and maintained.
- Oversee property management transactions and administration functions by ensuring land is purchased/leased/disposed of in accordance with Metrolinxs corporate real estate strategy; agreements and contracts are negotiated and legal issues are addressed; contractor performance is reviewed; and leasing and licensing requirements are managed.
- Oversee the management of real estate operations by ensuring that administrative and maintenance services are performed on leased and owned properties/assets and service providers are monitored; leases and licenses align with Metrolinxs corporate real estate strategy and are negotiated effectively; annual office space requirements are identified budgeted for and implemented; and workspace design needs are coordinated and addressed.
- Develop and nurture strong collaborative working relationships with key partners and internal SMEs across Metrolinx and looks for commercial opportunities for shared vision and common goals in achieving mutually beneficial outcomes to projects/programs.
- Coordinate with REM unit Leaders Capital Projects Group (CPG) and Operations to ensure that division goals/priorities are strategized needs and gaps are identified and resolved and there is synergy and integration across the business units.
- Oversee strategic and operational planning activities related to Metrolinxs corporate real estate strategy and thirdparty development and provides advice for longterm planning and the identification of new initiatives.
- Lead the development and implementation of REM policies procedures tools systems and best practices related to real estate portfolio management and ensure continued relevance through ongoing review and maintenance using performance analytics and industry/market research.
- Oversee the development of integrated technology solutions to understand query and analyze Metrolinxs extensive real estate portfolio providing a singlesource of truth for real estate assets and a sustainable system of records management to document key attributes for a dynamic real estate portfolio
- Provide creative thought leadership with input from others to develop and deploy a strategic vision; connect and align projects with strategic corporate goals.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need
- Knowledge of/expertise in the theories principles and practices of largescale real estate land management and transactions
- Minimum of 15 years of real estate experience in property management and/or transactions and an acknowledged real estate industry leader with a wide network.
- Completion of a degree in Business Administration Urban Planning Real Estate discipline Economics Environmental Studies or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education training and experience deemed equivalent.
- Knowledge of change management principles and practicesto lead the implementation of new organizational structures business models policies and processes; Exertise in managing large and complex teams
- Relationship and stakeholder management negotiation collaboration and influencing skills to: build/establish value added relationships with senior level stakeholders in private sector corporations land development organizations government organizations and communities; negotiate real estate agreements with a variety of industry players.
- Leadership skills including interpersonal presentation communication negotiation and consensus building and ability to lead a diverse team and interact with all levels internal and external to the organization; ability to make decisions within a rapid and demanding environment.
- Interpersonal skills and political acuity to remain responsive and flexible to the demands of conflicting priorities within a highly political and sensitive environment.
- Ability to be highly functioning in an environment of ambiguity and constant change.
