Job Description
Within GTS the Mainframe Engineering team provides comprehensive support for Euroclears computational powerhouse: the mainframe machines. Our services include system administration database administration middleware support and ensuring mainframe security.
Role and Responsibilities:
As a Mainframe DB2 and Middleware Engineer you will ensure that the middleware layer of the mainframe platform integrates seamlessly with the Euroclear environment. Your tasks will include:
- Delivering and evolving the infrastructure to meet business and client requirements for stability reliability and costeffectiveness.
- Proposing technical evolutions and longterm strategies.
- Providing support to stakeholders (production developers testers endusers etc.).
- Evaluating and configuring new versions/products.
- Preparing and managing procedures to create supported configurations.
- Acting as an escalation point to vendors for DB2/MQ and related software.
- Performance tuning of SQLs and applications.
- Defining and tuning MQ managers.
- Reviewing and approving MQ objects for software development teams.
Qualifications:
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- 5 years of experience as a DB2 z/OS System Administrator.
- 5 years of experience as an MQ z/OS System Administrator.
- Experience with z/OS system programming and USS.
- Security experience with certificate management.
- Proficiency in JCL SDSF PL/1 Rexx QMF (TSO/Websphere).
- Familiarity with monitoring tools for DB2 & MQ (CA SYSVIEW Omegamon TMON).
- Experience with data replication (QReplication CDC).
Nice to Have Technical Skills & Knowledge:
- SAS software installation on both mainframe and distributed platforms.
- IDAA experience.
- Experience with DB2 Connect/drivers and Windows.
- Familiarity with z/OS Connect DB2 APIs DB2 AI.
Required Soft Skills:
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum ceremonies and practices.
- Strong team player.
- Problemsolving and lateral thinking mindset.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work in a highavailability environment.
- Focused on the controls required to ensure service levels.
- Eager to document and improve processes.
Additional Information:
Work outside of business hours is sometimes required as production launches are generally carried out after 5 PM or on Saturdays as well as watch duty at nights and weekends.
