Job Description
POSITION TITLE:Construction Project Director
EXEMPTION STATUS:Exempt
REPORTS TO:Deputy Superintendent of Finance and Operations
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:per contractschool contract
Primary Purpose
Provide technical expertise project management and budget control for 2025 bond construction projects.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Industry Certification or College Degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)
Valid Texas Drivers License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of local and state building codes.
Knowledge of established OSHA laws and safety requirements
Knowledge of state public school construction rules/regulations.
Knowledge of building construction techniques.
Knowledge of school purchasing guidelines and construction delivery methods
Skill in communication and collaboration between various stakeholders
Skill in operating standard computer and software applications including but not limited to electronic mail word processing spreadsheets databases and presentations.
Skill in communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to organize and prioritize work responsibilities.
Ability to design and deliver presentations to administration board of trustees or community
Experience:
Five (5) years of construction related experience including supervisory experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Manage and lead to fulfill the vision and values and beliefs of the district.
- Manage and oversee all 2025 bond construction projects including responding to questions concerning construction issues ensuring estimates for future work are accurate; reviewing weekly reports and information for accuracy tracking project information as assigned and coordinating information with all applicable parties.
- Manage and oversee bond construction projects assigned to ensure projects are on schedule; budget and constructed as designed.
- Manage project budgets and ensure estimates for future work are accurate.
- Review architectural firms project designs are consistent with district needs and specifications.
- Review blueprints and markup as needed.
- Coordinate and conduct construction meetings for multiple projects.
- Perform administrative duties by preparing weekly reports analyzing and tracking project information.
- Coordinate activities with other District offices and administrators and provide assistance as needed.
- Analyze critical needs and work collaboratively to implement and improve programs.
- Interface with governmental agencies business and civic organizations and the community to provide needed information and to promote the Districts initiatives.
- Communicate and collaborate with campus/department staff to enhance service delivery program development and customer satisfaction.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law including but not limited to State Board of Education and local Board policy.

Policy Reports and Law
- Consult with city and state officials to ensure conformity with codes and ordinances regulating District construction projects.
Budget and Inventory
- Work to ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Negotiate research and request the purchase of equipment and supplies from approved vendors.
Safety
- Ensure proper safety practices are followed on all San Angelo ISD jobs sites.
- Follow OSHA laws and other established safety policies. Monitor for compliance on each work site.
- Plan and deliver monthly safety training programs for Facility Technicians and Skilled Personnel for maximum productivity.
- Respond to emergencies as requested; coordinate activities with other responders; direct the work of staff and utilization of resources to affect repair and ensure the safety of the students staff and facilities.

- Communicate effectively with staff members administrators and other individuals using tact and good judgment in resolving construction related issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversight of all Bond 2025 construction projects as well as any other assigned projects.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; small hand tools; ladder; mechanical and electrical testing equipment; small truck or van
- Posture: Frequent standing kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing/pulling and twisting
- Motion: Frequent walking climbing stairs/ladders grasping/squeezing wrist flexion/extension and overhead reaching; frequent driving
- Lifting: Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (1544 pounds)
- Environment:
- Travel district wide frequently; work irregular hours and respond to afterhours emergency calls as needed. Exposure to slippery or uneven walking surfaces ladders and scaffolding; exposure to extreme temperature changes and varied weather conditions for travel to multiple locations; exposure to loud noises and moving objects or vehicles; exposure to excessive fumes and toxic chemicals; continual interpersonal interactions within an educational environment; and work around moving objects or vehicle.
