Job Description Summary:
PEARL STREET MALL: The Events and Facility Monitor position is responsible for the management of a facility during special events and highuse times. Events can occur outside regular hours and after dark. Work is performed under the general direction of the Urban Ranger Supervisor. Position requires working evenings weekends holidays and may require the ability to travel to City facilities as needed. This position has the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety of facility patrons.Job Description:
Provides excellent customer service to the patrons of the facilities which includes the following:
Interacts with the Department of Parks and Recreation customers by greeting patrons and providing information about facility policies.
Communicates effectively with facility patrons in person and over the phone.
Supervises patrons and facilities during events and daily operations to maintain a safe and secure environment.
Effectively handle & report emergency situations (i.e. criminal activity injuries and building maintenance concerns). This includes knowledge of emergency procedures shut off valves and building maintenance contacts. Remains composed in emergency situations and makes decisions with sound judgement.
Resolves customer concerns incidents and issues as they occur. Uses appropriate disciplinary techniques with patrons and logs incidents.
Completes accident and incident reports as necessary.
Assesses possible facility issues and safety concerns by regular facility walkthroughs.
Able to open and close the facilities at which they work.
Performs equipment setup & breakdown as needed.
Completes trash and hazard removal as needed. Provides general direction to custodial staff for further needs.
Other:
Performs related duties as required to meet the needs of the city.
Takes proper safety precautions to prevent accidents. Responsible for the safety of self others materials and equipment.
Uses all required safety equipment and follows all safety regulations policies and procedures. Reports all accidents and damage to city property.
Responsible for knowing and complying with all city and department policies; participating in professional trainings and development; and adhering to attendance and workplace attire policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Ability to interest and desire to provide excellent customer service.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse people and demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and evenings.
Have and maintain acceptable background information including criminal conviction record.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working for a public or private recreation facility.
Prior experience working communitybased special events and/or private rentals.
Prior experience leading or supervising members of the public.
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent.
One (1) year of customer service experience or any combination of education and experience.
Current First Aid/AED and CPR certifications within 90 days of hire.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Physical and Mental Demands: Primarily sedentary physical work requiring the ability to lift a maximum of 30 pounds; occasional lifting and carrying of tables/chairs; frequent walking and standing. Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that permits the employee to communicate effectively on the telephone and in person. Sufficient vision or other powers of observation that permits the employee to review evaluate and prepare a variety of written documents and materials. Sufficient manual dexterity permits the employee to use hand tools. Ability to work under stress from public contact and changing priorities and conditions.
Work Environment: Works primarily outside in all weather conditions.
Machines and Equipment Used: Cell phone; PPE; Basic first aid equipment; Trash removal equipment.
