Job Title: School Improvement Coach

EXEMPT: Yes JOB CODE:

LOCATION: Educational Services TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month

REPORTS TO: Director for School Improvement DATE APPROVED:

SUMMARY:

The School Improvement Coach strengthens leadership instructional practices and team collaboration to accelerate student learning and growth.

JOB GOAL: Through targeted coaching of school leaders and instructional teams the coach drives the implementation of effective datainformed strategies aligned with district priorities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years successful teaching or coaching experience minimum.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of school improvement processes including needs assessment goal setting and action planning.
  • Demonstrated skills in data collection analysis and interpretation to drive instructional decisionmaking.
  • Experience facilitating and coaching schoolbased instructional teams using effective teaming models.
  • Ability to provide principals and district leaders with clear actionable summaries of instructional progress and areas for growth.
  • Ability to identify challenges in teaching and school systems collaborate with others to find practical solutions and assist teams in planning action steps to improve student learning.
  • Skilled at working with others in a professional learning environment including mentoring and coaching teachers and modeling effective teaching practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree or BA and Reading or Math Endorsement or as approved areas
  • Previous coaching or mentoring experience
  • Active in school leadership/committees including Instructional Leadership Teams
  • Experience with Next Generation workforce models
  • Experience in the development and delivery of staff development
  • Demonstrated experience with improvement of science PDSA cycles
  • Various grade level experience

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Coach instructional teams to strengthen collaboration improve team structures and develop interdisciplinary planning and units that support student learning.
  2. Assist teams of teachers with data collection analysis and action planning to inform instructional decisions and drive continuous improvement.
  3. Support teachers and teams through observation and coaching for the implementation of effective instructional practices by:
    1. Modeling collaborative instructional practices and facilitating discussions.
    2. Conducting coaching conversations with targeted feedback.
    3. Supporting Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings focused on student learning team norms and instructional alignment across disciplines.
  1. Plan deliver and support highquality professional development that builds instructional team capacity fosters interdisciplinary collaboration and promotes evidencebased practices; actively participate in ongoing professional learning.
  2. Serve as a collaborative member of school leadership teams contributing to school improvement planning and the development of shared leadership structures.
  3. Assist teachers and instructional teams in aligning curriculum instruction and assessments to state standards district priorities and integrated instructional approaches.
  4. Support the development and monitoring of Educator Goal Plans sitebased initiatives and district improvement efforts maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  5. If the position is grantfunded perform duties aligned to specific program requirements.
  6. Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent or Designee.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of the Board policy or evaluation of professional personnel.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several concrete variables

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read analyze and interpret education materials and programs; ability to write reports procedure manuals and correspondence; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of teachers students administration and the community.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematics such as probability and statistical inference; ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
