Description

LIVESTOCK RECEIVER AUSTIN PLANT

This positionreports to Todd Anderson Supervisor of Hog ReceivingDaysAustin Plant.

The work schedule for this position is MondayFriday 6 am to 2:30 pm. There may be some slight adjustments in the hours so the schedule will be discussed further during the interview. Overtime is required. Saturday and Sunday work is frequent. Flex time is not available.

At Hormel Foods base pay is one part of our total compensation package. The base hiring pay range starting rate for this role is $24.85 per hour.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The person in this position:

  • Completes the necessary procurement transaction information and receives animals according to the Hormel Foods Procurement departments rules and regulations.
  • Serves as the frontline Hormel contact with producers and transporters requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enforces Hormels animal welfare and handling policies.
  • Provides relief coverage in Grade & Yield department as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate a strong pattern of written and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical strength to assist in gently rolling 200 300 lb. nonambulatory animals.
  • Ability to withstand a wide variety of temperature / climate changes.
  • Ability to withstand higher levels of noise dust and odors associated with livestock on a daily basis.
  • Understanding that incumbent may be vulnerable to possible injury from the animals bumping into them as the direction of travel of these animals can be unpredictable.

Preferred

  • Good working knowledge of livestock quality and livestock handling.
  • Ability to differentiate between light and heavy hogs.
  • Knowledge of Personal Computer operations.
