Job Description:
PURPOSE:
The purpose of the expectation task list is to identify and clarify what management expects from the incumbent. The following expectations and tasks will be part of the annual performance appraisals; your merit increase will be based on the level of performance in each of the following areas.
Expectations may change year to year and both parties should use the annual performance appraisal to determine realistic and equitable goals and outcomes for the upcoming performance year.

WORKING RELATIONSHIP(S)
- Reports to the Transitional Employment Program Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES
Service
- Provide individualized counselling services to a caseload of 1015 clients within the rehabilitation model philosophy and policies of the agency
- Establish and maintain purposeful effective and appropriate professional counselling relationships
- Assess client needs. Design and implement a goaloriented rehabilitation plan with each client
- Provide crisis intervention supportive counselling and advocacy when
- Actively seek employment opportunities and/or volunteer opportunities for clients
- Provide onsite training support supervision and quality control
- Notify the supervisor immediately of any problems between the employer and/or client(s) and any significant observations and/or behavioural issues regarding the clients
- Provide the range of services typically described under the term case management in the absence of any other support and based on client need(s) within a framework of holistic support
- Keep all client files in a manner that meets agency expectations
- Responsibly drive the work vehicle as required ensure the vehicle is maintained and report any issues to the supervisor immediately
- Provide maintenance of program machines/equipment as
- Arrange for clients admission and provide backup to the intake process when necessary
- Prepare client status change forms coordinate and track client work hours
- Coordinate/consult with other professionals involved with the client and make referrals to various sections of the community
- Be aware of all aspects of workplace safety and cleanliness and participate as a representative on the Joint Health and Safety Committee at one of The Salvation Army programs
- Be mentally alert and physically fit in order to perform duties
- Demonstrate acceptable professional behavior as outlined in the policies and procedures of the Agency and in the Social Work Code of Ethics
- May be required to drive own vehicle to various sites
- Perform other tasks as assigned
Organizational
- Participate constructively and energetically as a responsible team member and maintain harmonious relations with the staff
- Demonstrate growth within the job description and be responsible for professional self development
- Be aware of Agency philosophy policies and procedures ensuring these are upheld and to provide input into areas as required
- Be involved in supervision with the program supervisor following the Impact Supervision model
- Participate in relevant committee meetings and conferences as
- Keep records reports and statistics as prescribed. This includes completing OCANs for clients
- Model effective and efficient work behaviour for clients
- Maintain a valid drivers license
- Ensure customer relations and business ethics are aligned with The Salvation Army standards
- Demonstrate acceptable professional behaviour

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent
- Counselling experience in mental health developmental challenges or addictions
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills
- Demonstrated documentation skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of the safe operation of machinery and equipment associated with the training of clients in a factory/janitorial/lawn care position
- Computer literacy (word processing and inventory control programs)
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
Hours of Work: 25 hours per week
Compensation: $23.28 per hour
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $23.28 to $29.10 with a maximum of $34.92.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
