Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Assists in the direction coordination and review of all operational activities of the institution.
- Assumes responsibility for the custody security discipline and sanitation of the institution.
- Performs the duties of the Warden in the Wardens absence.
- Ensures policies and procedures relative tothe overall operation of the institution are adhered too.
- Prepares (writes) various reports special studies and staff papers including recommendations relating to proposed changes in policies operating procedures rules regulations and laws.
- Provides direct supervision for security classification visitation maintenance outside details agriculture programs and training.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
- State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A bachelors degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelors degree on a yearforyear basis.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resource).Ten (10) years of experience in correctional security military or police work including five (5) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for up to 1/2 of required supervisory experience (associate 2 years bachelors and above 2 1/2 years).
Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
