Description
Reporting to the Associate Director of Academic Services and Learning Resources (ASLR) the Graduate Assistant (GA) of ASLR is responsible for supporting services and programs that promote student academic success. During the summer the GA will assist with the coordination of Summer Passport an academic orientation and transition program. During the academic year the GA will continue coordinating aspects of fall and spring Passport provide academic success coaching and advising assist with outreach and student engagement efforts facilitate academic skillbuilding workshops and gain experience in academic support functional areas (on a rotating/as needed basis).
Key Responsibilities:
Academic Support & Advising
Meet individually with students; assist students in developing effective academic skills and habits
Provide academic advising and support to students to clarify their academic and cocurricular interests; connect students to relevant campus resources and partners
Develop and facilitate academic skillbuilding workshops to help students achieve academic success
Monitor and engage in regular followup with students about their progress
Passport Program Coordination & Development:
Assist in planning coordinating and assessing Passport
Collaborate with the Associate Director of ASLR to hire train and supervise Passport student staff
Arrange room assignments access and movein/out for Summer Passport student participants and staff in accordance with College policy
Serve in the oncall rotation to respond to crisis and/or emergency situations during Summer Passport according to college protocols for communication and response
Support the development and facilitation of workshops presentations student activities and weekend field trips for students
Conduct Passport academic support meetings
Assist with the planning and implementation of the Passport Spring Retreat
Collaborate with campus partners to integrate holistic support for the firstyear student transition
Assist in recruiting prospective students to Passport
Develop programming and academic support services for Passport students beyond their firstyear
Research best practices in orientation and transition programs and provide recommendations for program improvements
Professional Development
Network with campus partners students and alumni to develop understanding of higher education functional areas and structures
Support and assist with other ASLR programs (e.g. Peer tutoring PAL The Mentor Program The TriAlpha National Honor Society etc.) on a rotating basis
Participate in internal and external professional development opportunities
Student Engagement Outreach & Administration:
Build relationships and collaborate with key campus partners that support student engagement
Develop and distribute learning resources and materials social media content and marketing campaigns to promote ASLR and Passport.
Represent ASLR and Passport at campus events resource fairs etc.
Assist in collecting and analyzing program evaluation data to measure effectiveness
Support administrative tasks such as responding to student inquiries and managing ASLR program logistics
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required. Enrolled in a graduate program of: Higher Education Student Affairs Counseling Social work or another closely related field preferred
Interest in higher education academic support orientation/transition programs and/or residence life with a commitment to supporting underserved student communities
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to organize solve problems and complete projects with minimal supervision
Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Gmail Google drive Google sites) preferred
Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends

Compensation:
June Mid August 2025: $10000. Housing included during this timeframe.
Mid August Mid December 2025 & Mid January Mid May 2026: $20/hour. Housing not included.
