Job Description

Skills &Qualifications:

  • Fluent ability in both the Spanish and English language strongly preferred
  • Typically requires 2 to 5 years in related field and/or DHL experience
  • An advanced understanding of dangerous goods regulations including 49CFR IATA and ICAO regulations is preferred.
  • Ability to facilitate a collaborative team environment across a diverse group of domestic and international colleagues airlines contractors and customers
  • Highly efficient in organizing and coordinating multiple tasks in a fastpaced multicultural global environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and database management preferred.
  • Strong PC skills including Front Page Microsoft Office and webbased applications.
  • Knowledge of DHL internalapplications preferred (PNFMS RCTS FOCUS RCIR)
  • Ability to work rotating shifts supporting dayand night operations

The Dangerous GoodsSpecialistposition provides regulatory and operational direction to fieldoperations customer support and global counterparts regarding dangerousgoods/restricted commodities shipping within DHL Miami Hub. Supports andcommunicates the regulations and policies in accordance with the air carriersground operations manual US DOT (FAA) IATA/ICAO dangerous goods regulationsand DHL Express company policy.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Liaises and coordinates with the DGSA and Regional RCG as needed
  • Oversees and manages the implementation of all applicable DG requirements
  • Maintenance of any local DG and Emergency Response Procedures
  • DG Training requirements
  • Compliance to the Standard Awareness Level Testing (SALT)
  • Ensures Customer Facility DG reviews are completed to support the DG account approval process
  • Ensures the annual facility selfassessment is completed
  • Manages and Reports all RCIR entries and follow up
  • Reports all DG spills or leakage trough the appropriate local/regional process
  • Maintenance of all DG facility postings supplies and filling requirements
  • Respond to all inquiries that may be related to customer questions (internal and external) a request from a regulatory agent or a report of a leaking dangerous goods shipment
  • Specialist must comply with both Express and ACS procedures based on type of product.
  • Supports field operations on technical or system related issues with RCTS and PNFMS for all international dangerous goods traffic and those shipments transiting the US domestic network.
  • Interfaces with various global dangerous goods departments to ensure all international dangerous goods packages are handled in accordance with the import and export standard operating procedures.
  • Performs dataentry of incident reports and follows up with field operations on compliance issues for corrective action.
