POSITION: Accounting Manager

JOB CLASS/GRADE: Division Director / Grade 2

WAGE: Starting at $82941 per year based on experience

Program Summary
The Finance team manages all aspects of the financial operations in the organization ensuring IRCOs financial health transparency and sustainability. The team is comprised of three areas: Accounting Budgets and Contracts. Core functions of the team include recording financial transactions creating financial reports for both funders and managers and assisting managers in the interpretation of those reports. With an annual budget of more than $60 million drawn from a complex array of funding streams and a workforce and client base from around the world we are a nonprofit leader with a long stable history of financial accountability and excellence.


Position Summary
We are seeking an Accounting Manager to help continue that success and to address current challenges. The successful Accounting Manager will possess strong accounting and project management skills be collaborative and detailoriented and enjoy contributing to a healthy workplace culture for all employees in support of IRCOs mission.


Essential Functions

  • Banking and Cash Management
  • Supervise timely and accurate bank reconciliations
  • Revenue recording and reconciliation
  • Supervise recording of AR and Cash receipts
  • Manage grant accounting including the reconciliation between the donor database and the accounting database and the net assets schedule. Lead communication with program managers and development
  • Payroll Supervision and review
  • Oversee the payroll process and the proper importing of balances into the accounting database. Coordination with the Payroll Specialist and HR team.
  • Audit and Form 990
  • Prepare core audit schedules and tax return worksheets
  • Participate in communication with auditors
  • Fixed Assets.
  • Maintaining the fixed assets register and coordinating with the facilities team on purchases and capitalizations
  • Create and maintain cash flow projections
  • Contribute updates to the Accounting Manual and develop accounting procedures with strong internal controls
  • Manage and supervise team of four accounting staff provide guidance and direction as needed
  • Assist in month end closing ensuring journal entries are properly posted

Secondary Functions

  • Attend recurring allstaff meetings team meetings and other requested meetings
  • Participate in policy work with strategic plan workgroup on request
  • Pursue relevant training in the field of accounting
  • Support IRCOs strategic goals and objectives
Requirements

Education & Experience

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in Accounting Business or similar combination of education and experience
  • CPA preferred
  • 57 years experience in progressively challenging accounting positions preferably in a notfor profit organization
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of GAAP accounting
  • Proficiency in ABILA MIP preferred Microsoft Office Suite required
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Intercultural competence; demonstrated skill in understanding cultural differences
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with stakeholders staff and community members
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced environment and meet deadlines

Physical Mental & Environmental Requirements

  • Hybrid setting job
  • Requires little physical effort such as lifting carrying or constant movement but does allow for movement needed to complete work tasks
  • Regular need for assessment of risk analysis of options and decisions without complete information
  • There is very little element of personal risk or hazard. Job conditions are stable usually well managed and very comfortable
  • The work schedule is stable and does not fluctuate

Supervisory Responsibilities

Responsible for a full range of supervisory responsibilities including providing daily work direction authority to hire discipline and terminate employees make pay adjustments communicate performance appraisals approve absences.
