Two Year Visiting Assistant Professor in American Politics
The Political Science Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a twoyear fulltime Visiting Assistant Professor position in American Politics with a focus on political behavior representation voting elections and related subfields. The appointment will begin in Fall 2025.
The successful candidate will have expertise in political behavior voting elections social movements and related aspects of US politics. We are looking for a candidate who is broadly trained in one or more of the following areas: political behavior representation voting behavior election science political psychology social movements or other relevant subfields. The ability to offer courses that contribute to Skidmore Colleges Black Studies Program and/or Latin American & Latinx Studies Program would be valued.
The position carries a 32 teaching load and the successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in American Politics that will include Introduction to American Politics political behavior campaigns and elections and other courses in their specialization. Demonstrated excellence in teaching is required and experience teaching and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds is valued.
The application deadline is April 21 2025.Candidates should submit a letter of application curriculum vitae teaching philosophy sample syllabi evaluations of undergraduate teaching or other evidence of teaching effectiveness and the names of three recommenders. A Ph.D. in Political Science at time of appointment is strongly preferred.
Salary:$67636 plus comprehensive benefits.
All bargaining unit faculty members are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Skidmore College and Services Employees International Union Local 200United.
