Job Description
DNV Energy USA Inc. seeks a Power System Engineer to work at our office in Dallas Texas.
Job Duties:
- Perform steady state dynamic shortcircuit and/or PSCAD model development for renewable and conventional generation resources including Solar Storage Wind and Gas turbines.
- Perform model system wide power flow analysis including steadystate dynamic stability and shortcircuit analysis.
- Perform due diligence for M&A projects by reviewing interconnection documents from data room and identify the risk associated.
- Complete interconnection applications and supporting documentation for projects in various RTOs (CAISO PJM NYISO MISO ERCOT SPP) and vertically integrated markets (WECC SERC etc.).
- Evaluate transmission & interconnection tariffs costs timelines queue and processes for a variety of markets and provide strategy to our stakeholders.
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for area(s) related to grid reliability and/or energy markets.
- Actively attend (in person/remote) industry stakeholder meetings and stay up to date with assigned market changes in terms of developments and policy changes.
- Contribute to the teams research and innovation activities in terms of development of new techniques and/or analytical tools to further the teams performance in terms of efficiency and/or capability improvements.
- Cultivate new customer relationships and assist in preparing responses to Requests for Proposals (RFP) and provide Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) for new tenders/bids/opportunities.
- Hybrid work permitted within a reasonable commuting distance of the Dallas TX office.

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Energy Systems Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field of study and three (3) years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related role where required experience gained.
In lieu of a Bachelors degree in stated fields and three (3) years of stated experience employer will accept a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering Energy Systems Engineering or a related field of study and one (1) year of experience as an Electrical Engineer or related role where required experience gained.
Special Skills:
Also requires experience in the following:
- Handson experiences with powersystem tools PSS/E Powerworld PSLF and PSCAD;
- Direct work experience in transmission or distribution planning related analyses in transmission planning or resource interconnection;
- Knowledge of North American RTO/ISO markets grid interconnection and corresponding planning practices including resource integration studies NERC standards and ISO/RTO resource interconnection model requirements; and
- Indepth understanding of fundamentals of electric power systems and renewable energy.
