The Geological Survey of NSW (part of NSW Resources) are looking for a Technical Officer to come and join their hyperspectral team.

Based at our worldclass Geoscience Centre the Londonderry Core Library is a stateoftheart facility featuring an efficient core retrieval and archiving system. The centre also hosts several geoscience research programs including those focused on hyperspectral studies. As the NSW node of the National Virtual Core Library (NVCL) program we have an ongoing collaboration with other states and territories. Our mission is to support the exploration industry geoscientists and academics by leveraging the resources and opportunities provided by the WB Geoscience Centre.

As the NVCL Technical Officer you will be responsible for the daytoday operations of our Hylogger 4 Hylogger 3 and various handheld equipment such as pXRFs XRDs and TerraSpec. You will help coordinate the movements of Critical Mineralrelated drill cores within the Core Library and assist with prioritising mineral systems studies. You will be the first to scan and process core samples with our worlds first Hylogger 4 before they are incorporated into the National Virtual Core Library.

You will also have opportunities to participate in industry NVCL workshops and educational seminars and will educate industry on the use of our equipment as we develop a more sustainable use of drillcore that aligns with our commitment to protect our environment while harnessing the benefits of our rich mineral resources.

To be successful youll need to have experience working with geoscientific hyperspectral data acquisition reporting and data submission including experience with computer applications used for cataloguing and compilation of data.

Youll also need relevant technical qualifications and experience in compiling geological data and knowledge of the Resources and Mining/Exploration Industry in NSW. A valid NSW forklift and an NSW EPA IA19 pXRF user licence are also desirable for the role.
