What does our team look like
We a team of patent attorneys of the Corporate patent function at the Penzberg site specialize in pharmaceuticals and are responsible for all IPissues related to the development and production of new biotechnological therapeutics. Due to a longexisting high workload in connection with infringement and opposition proceedings our team needs more support in the performance of our wide range of other tasks.
We support the development and production of our innovative active ingredients secure them with suitable industrial property rights / measures in close cooperation with R&D analyze external property rights and secure freedomtooperate with appropriate strategies in cooperation with all participating functions
What does your new job include
You will draft and prosecute patent applications in close consultation with the respective inventors of R & D or other areas of Roche
You conduct prosecution opposition appeal and invalidity proceedings before patent offices or courts worldwide (possibly with the involvement of external patent attorney offices)
You provide oral and written opinions on patentability expected scope of protection and value of developments from Roche R&D units or other areas of Roche or external collaborations taking into account all (contractual) aspects
You assess third party patent rights
You prepare options for dealing with potentially critical thirdparty property rights advise the affected project groups / departments and implement them (patent litigation cooperation with Licensing Legal and project groups).
You support R&D units and projects / inventors for decisionmaking in IPrelated issues
You can identify yourself with the following statements
You have a degree in science or engineering (diploma or master if possible Ph.D.) and additionally you are qualified to practice as European Patent Attorney (and optional as German Patent Attorney)
You have practical experience in intellectual property law for at least 3 to 4 years in a patent law firm or in an industry patent department.
You possess indepth knowledge of European and German patent law as well as of the most important national patent rights (US JP CN) as well as international conventions such as EPC PCT and knowledge of related fields (e.g. civil law EU law competition and antitrust law)
You have a thorough and broad knowledge of biochemistry biology and / or immunology (additional background in bioinformatics is a plus) and a basic knowledge of licensing and contract law
English language skills knowledge of German will be an advantage.
