The Opportunity:

KBR is currently inviting expressions of interest from highly capable and experienced System Architects to support key Defence programs across Brisbane and Canberra.

As a System Architect you will play a strategic and technical leadership role responsible for the design integration and oversight of complex systems within the Defence environment. You will contribute to the development of innovative solutions that align with enterprise and capability requirements ensuring the delivery of robust secure and scalable system architectures.

The key responsibilities of the role will include but is not limited to:

  • Develop and maintain system architecture frameworks models and documentation aligned with Defence requirements and standards.

  • Lead the design and integration of complex systems ensuring coherence across platforms technologies and mission requirements.

  • Ensure system designs meet functional security and performance objectives throughout the system lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define and refine system requirements and ensure traceability throughout design and implementation phases.

  • Assess and manage technical risks system interfaces and interdependencies across integrated environments.

  • Provide strategic input into capability planning technology roadmaps and architecture governance.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant Defence frameworks such as TOGAF DODAF ISO/IEC 42010 and ASDEFCON.

  • Engage with multidisciplinary teams including engineering ICT cyber security and program management to deliver system outcomes.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering Computer Science ICT or a related discipline.

  • Significant experience in systems architecture preferably within Defence Government or similarly complex technical environments.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of systems engineering principles modelbased systems engineering (MBSE) and enterprise architecture tools.

  • Experience working with Defence Capability Life Cycle and related technical documentation including SEMP SV1 to SV11 views and interface control documents.

  • Strong understanding of security interoperability scalability and compliance requirements in system design.

  • Excellent stakeholder engagement communication and leadership skills.

  • Australian Citizenship is essential due to Defence security requirements.

  • NV1 security clearance or eligibility to obtain one is highly desirable.
