Higher Education Officer Level 6 $89773 $95718 p.a.
Location: Northern Territory Darwin or Alice Springs
About the Role
Working under general direction and reporting to the Research Development Manager the Research Support Officer will provide administrative support and advice along with project management support for the College of Medicine and Public Health and related institutes and centres.
The incumbents focus will be primarily supporting rural and remote health research activity. With some travel required you will be based at either Northern Territory Darwin or Alice Springs sites.
This role is also responsible for:
Interpretation and analysis of regulations and administrative procedures in accordance with university policies and other relevant information.
Coordinating and facilitating communications and advice to researchers including advising in relation to external grant guidelines and funding rules external funding opportunities professional development and training.
Providing administrative assistance in relation to research matters including some postaward support.
Provide support to both the College Leadership team and researchers on a range of strategic programs to promote and enhance research outcomes.

Research Development and Support (RDS) works with Flinders researchers Colleges Centres and Institutes other portfolios and external stakeholders to proactively support our research. Our teams underpin Flinders research evolving from ideas through to impact. RDS is part of the Portfolio of the Deputy ViceChancellor (Research) and provides excellence in all facets of research management and promoting Flinders research.
About Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute
To do this FHMRI brings together worldleading and inspiring research experts. We work with health practitioners patients and with one of the largest networks of remote and rural community partnerships to better understand and seek solutions to the most pressing health and medical needs.
About You
With previous experience in research administration applying your excellent communication interpersonal and problem solving skills you will develop strong relationships with staff colleagues and stakeholders. You have welldeveloped written and verbal communication attention to detail and can autonomously and proactively support researchers in the College.
You will also be able to demonstrate:
Demonstrated ability to interpret and advise on regulations and administrative policies and procedures.
Experience in drafting reports and collection and analysis of data for statistical purposes.
Experience in development and monitoring of budgets.
Ability to apply analytical and problemsolving skills to understand a complex situation or problem and develop innovative ideas and opportunities for resolving them.

Prescribed Conditions for Employment
A valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check which is satisfactory to the University will also be required before the successful applicant can commence in this position.
Northern Territory Government legislation (the Care and Protection of Children Act 2007) now requires all individuals in child related employment or whose duties involve or are likely to involve contact with a child to hold a valid Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card). This position involves child related work and is assessed as requiring a Working with Children Clearance/Ochre Card.
