Job Description

Sask DLC requires a permanent fulltime Structured Literacy Coach (teacher on assignment) for the 202526 school year with teaching position to be determined for the 202627 year and beyond based on current teaching assignment educational background or training and experience. The position will commence on August 25 2025. The campus location will be determined by the principal residence of the successful candidate.

Sask DLC is a Treasury Board Crown Corporation created to deliver highquality and equitable online learning programs to students across the province. Sask DLCs head office is located in Kenaston with an administrative office in Regina and regional campuses located in Estevan Kenaston La Ronge Moose Jaw Neilburg Nipawin Prince Albert Regina Saskatoon Swift Current and Yorkton.

Under the direction of Superintendent of Student Supports and supervised by a Consultant from the Student Programming Team the Structured Literacy Coach serves as a subject matter expert and instructional leader supporting the implementation of the Sask DLC Structured Literacy Framework across grades K12. The Structured Literacy Coach works collaboratively with teachers administrators instructional teams and the Structured Literacy Committee to build capacity in evidencebased reading instruction promote datadriven decisionmaking support implementation of universal screening tools and develop aligned resources for both instruction and intervention. This role is pivotal in ensuring highquality literacy practices are implemented with fidelity to support all learners in achieving reading proficiency.

The Structured Literacy Coach plays a critical role in aligning literacy instruction and coaching practices with the Sask DLC Academics Plan and Saskatchewans Provincial Education Plan. Through a commitment to highimpact strategies that support academic excellence equity and datainformed instruction the Structured Literacy Coach ensures the implementation of Structured Literacy contributes directly to schoolwide literacy goals and priorities. This role also supports the preparation and analysis of annual reporting requirements to reading outcomes for submission to the Ministry of Education.

Primary Responsibilities:

Instructional Leadership

Model and promote evidencebased literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading.

Lead schoolwide implementation of the Structured Literacy Framework including Scarboroughs Reading Rope and the Simple View of Reading.

Support classroom teachers in aligning instruction with Sask DLCs literacy scope and sequence.

Demonstrate and coteach lessons that integrate key elements of Structured Literacy including phonological awareness phonics fluency vocabulary morphology and comprehension.

Professional Development and Coaching

Provide instructional coaching and jobembedded professional learning for teachers in Grades K9.

Support the onboarding of new staff with training on Amplifys mCLASS DIBELS 8th and other adoptive tools.

Lead and facilitate Collaborative Learning Cycles (CLCs) using screening and progress monitoring data.

Develop and deliver PD modules that support teacher growth in Structured Literacy practices.

Assessment and Data Literacy

Support implementation of universal screening and progress monitoring systems (e.g. Amplify mCLASS DIBELS 8).

Help teachers interpret and act upon data to group students by skill needs and plan responsive instruction.

Participate in assessment audits and fidelity checks to ensure consistent use of screening tools.

Support teachers in identifying atrisk readers and developing targeted intervention plans.

Support the collection analysis and reporting of literacy data as part of Sask DLC and provincial literacy initiatives.

Collaborate with others to ensure the fidelity and consistency of reading data submissions required for annual provincial reporting.

Resource Development and Implementation

Support the creation and curation of Structured Literacyaligned resources for instruction and intervention.

Participate in evaluating digital and physical literacy materials using a resource evaluation tool and/or procurement process.

Support integration of Indigenous content ways of knowing and cultural representation in literacy materials.

Ensure resources are accessible and effective within a digital learning environment.

Collaboration and Support

Collaborate with Student Support Teachers consultants and classroom teachers to support students with diverse learning needs.

Participate in the mentorship model to support new and developing teachers.

Engage in crossdepartmental planning to support inclusive and equitable literacy instruction across all tiers of support.

Offer information sessions for families that provide resources and strategies that families may use to support literacy at home.

Ensure literacy initiatives align with the Saskatchewan Provincial Education Plan priority actions within Learning and Assessment and Sask DLC frameworks such as the Assessment Grading and Communication framework.

Support Sask DLCs contribution to the Ministry of Educations annual reporting requirements by compiling and interpreting reading data in collaboration with others within Sask DLC.

Participate in strategic planning and review cycles to monitor progress toward Sask DLCs literacyrelated goals.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

Experience with coaching instructional leadership or literacy facilitation roles.

Proficiency with digital learning platforms (e.g. Moodle Microsoft Teams Teams Classroom etc.)

Familiarity with screening and progressmonitoring assessments.

Experience teaching and supporting reading instruction in a K12 environment preferably online or blended.

An understanding of provincial reporting as it relates to reading.

Understanding of the Saskatchewan Provincial Education Plan and Sask DLC Academics Plan particularly as they relate to improving literacy outcomes.

Ability to multitask prioritize and meet deadlines.

Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.

Proficiency in using Moodle Microsoft Teams and other digital platforms for teaching and communication.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

Effective collaboration skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.

Commitment to ongoing professional development and reflective teaching practices.

Knowledge and experience integrating Indigenous content perspectives and cultural practices into the curriculum.

Familiarity with assessment tools and strategies for online learning.

Ability to build positive relationships with colleagues in a remote context.

Passion for fostering inclusive culturally relevant learning experiences for all students.

Ability to adapt and support changes in the workplace due to changes in policies legislation or school needs.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision by demonstrating sound judgment discretion and decisionmaking skills to ensure quality of work meets expected standards.

Demonstration of excellent interpersonal skills to work as part of a team establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers Saskatchewan Distance Learning Corporation staff and the public.

Ability to conduct oneself in a manner appropriate to Sask DLC and demonstrate strict attention to the confidentiality of Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre operations and information.

Ability to exercise good judgement discretion and tact in dealing with staff and the public.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor of Education (.) or equivalent teaching certification in Saskatchewan.

Training and/or certification in Structured Literacy or equivalent evidencebased reading approaches.

Previous experience teaching Kindergarten to Grade 12 students preferably in an online or blended learning environment.

Valid Saskatchewan teaching certificate with Saskatchewan Professional Teachers Regulatory Board (SPTRB) and membership with the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation (STF).
