of Job Duties:The Department of Psychological Science in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a nontenure track Instructor in Psychological Science to start in August 2025. This is a standard ninemonth faculty appointment.

This nontenure track Instructor position will teach up to four classes per semester. This position could be teaching both survey classes and/or upperlevel classes depending on level of education. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the excellence of the academic community. The initial appointment is for a period of one academic year. The opportunity for reappointment will be based on performance and continued need. Regular reliable and nondisruptive attendance is an essential job duty as is the ability to create and maintain collegial harmonious working relationships with others. We seek candidates who demonstrate curiosity in emerging technologies and novel approaches to traditional methods.

Duties will include:

About the Department:
PSYC houses both a large undergraduate program (over 1500 students) and two Ph.D. programs (i.e. Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychology). The department has more than 25 fulltime faculty that together span a wide range of expertise in psychological science four fulltime administrative staff over 40 Ph.D. students and several postdoctoral fellows. The nationally registered historic building that houses PSYCMemorial Hallcontains four floors of faculty offices laboratory spaces classrooms and the Psychological Clinic which serves as the primary training site for the Departments fully accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Training Program. The Department is also home to a major private endowment that generates over $250K/year to support its research mission. This endowment funds graduate research assistants faculty research summer pay for grant preparation and other researchrelated expenses. Our clinical program has been awarded a Graduate Psychology Education (GPE) program grant for multiple consecutive cycles; our current GPE grant is entitled Meeting the Moment: Preparing a Health Service Psychology Workforce that is Socially Responsive and Resilient. In addition to being affiliated with PSYC faculty have the opportunity to be part of the Institute for Integrative and Innovative Research (I3R; ). This interdisciplinary institute includes construction of a building that is on track to open at the end of 2024 and this building will include the equipment necessary for conducting studies on or related to human neuroimaging (MRI EEG fNIRS TMS) mobile virtual reality sleep and metabolic processes. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

With submitted materials the candidate must demonstrate

  • Masters degree in psychological science or related field

  • Ability to teach college level psychology courses as an instructor of record

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. or terminal degree in Psychology or a related field

  • Teaching experience as demonstrated by having been the instructor of record for face to face collegelevel psychology courses

  • Evidence of exceptional teaching effectiveness

  • Ability to teach multiple classes including: Learning History and Systems Psychopathology Psychology of Diversity and other courses as needed by the department
