LOCATION: Hybrid Model* when working onsite you will report to the location of West Tower.

SALARY GRADE: 6

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $100277.00 $112812.00 per annum

MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE: $125346.00 per annum

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Reporting to the Senior Manager Community Safety & WellBeing Office the purpose of this job is to supervise Community Safety Coordinator staff and to operationalize neighbourhood outreach and development related tactics within the Community Safety Action Plan (the Action Plan) a Council identified priority. The Action Plan is a multiyear multifaceted plan with numerous newly identified tactics and a phased delivery over several years. The Supervisor position allows for the objectives of the Action Plan to be accomplished by providing direction guidance and decision making related to the delivery of neighbourhood outreach and development initiatives and tactics. Included in these programs is the oversight and implementation of Phase 2 of the Nurturing Neighbourhoods Program (NNP). This position will supervise the Coordinators by providing direction input feedback and guidance on design development delivery review and evaluation for NNP Phase 2 as well as other projects and programs. This position also allows for sustainability and longevity in running the programs that stem from the Action Plan that will become permanent features of CSWO including NNP Phase 2 the Neighbourhood Association Guide the Quadrant Connection function the GeoHub Neighbourhood Profiles incident monitoring and response and others.

STAFF MANAGEMENT

  • Supervise staff and prioritize and organize daily work direction to meet operational effectiveness and ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Supervise coach mentor and provide guidance to promote effective employee relations and encourage increased morale innovation and productivity to meet operational effectiveness.
  • Foster a positive and productive teamwork environment by leading building and motivating staff.
  • Monitor and assess performance and discipline as required to meet operational effectiveness.
  • Train Coordinators on new processes.
  • With the Manager interview recruit and hire staff to meet operational needs.

OPERATIONAL SUPPORT

  • Supervise partial implementation of the Community Safety Action Plan and respective initiatives.
  • Prioritize and organize implementation schedule for the Action Plan tactics strategies programs and initiatives related to neighbourhoods outreach and development.
  • Assign tasks to Coordinators for the implementation and delivery of Action Plan tactics.
  • Monitor review track and evaluate for operational effectiveness.
  • Report and communicate progress of Action Plan implementation and delivery to management.
  • Act as a key contact to management partners stakeholders residents community groups and others on the progress of the Action Plan delivery.
  • With the Manager prepare and monitor budget and expenses related to the implementation and delivery of the Action Plan.
  • Provide input on budget requirements to support anticipated needs related to the implementation and delivery of the Action Plan.
  • Supervise and monitor current budget of expenditures and ensure budget compliance related to the implementation and delivery of the Action Plan.
  • Assist in the planning development and implementation of future iterations of the Action Plan.

PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

  • Supervise the Coordinator positions implementing and operationalizing neighbourhood outreach and development tactics. This involves assigning tasks monitoring reviewing tracking and evaluating for operational effectiveness.
  • Report and communicate progress of neighbourhood outreach and development tactics implementation and delivery to management.
  • Act as a key contact to management partners stakeholders residents community groups and others on the progress of the various neighbourhood outreach and development tactics.
  • With the Manager prepare and monitor budget and expenses related to the implementation and delivery of tactics.
  • Supervise and monitor current budget of expenditures and ensure budget compliance related to the implementation and delivery of various tactics.

COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING

  • Present and convey complex concepts to internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Develop reports plans procedures and make recommendations to management for effective decisionmaking.
  • Effectively communicate operational plans and procedures.
  • Report on operational performance to Manager and make recommendations for improvement.
  • With the Manager develop reports and presentations for Council with program updates from the Community Safety & WellBeing Office.

  • Responsible for genuinely engaging and collaborating across the corporation and with partners and stakeholders to reduce silos receive and provide valuable input streamline operations and ultimately contribute to a Brampton that is a healthy and safe and wellrun city.
  • Conduct research and analysis using internal and external resources to gain insight into best practices.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and evaluate current programs processes and practices to recommend solutions that improve programming and set best practices.
  • Support and participate in initiatives undertaken by all Community Safety & WellBeing Office team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of City policies legislation regulations Administrative Directives and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Demonstrate corporate values at all times.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

EDUCATION:

  • Postsecondary degree in related field (i.e. Sociology Criminology Emergency Management Public Policy).
  • Related training and professional development certificates

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 57 years related experience preferably in public service
  • 35 years supervisory experience is an asset. Ability to supervise guide and motivate staff

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Strong knowledge and experience in plan development implementation and evaluation
  • Strong knowledge and experience in community engagement and development practices
  • Strong communication and organization skills. Detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple complex tasks and activities meeting conflicting priorities and timelines
  • Strong presentation skills including ability to present to large and diverse audiences
  • Strong ability to facilitate and convey concepts in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong customer service and people management skills. Interface with internal and external customers to meet corporate service standards
  • Practical knowledge of Municipal Regional Provincial and Federal governments and applicable legislations is an asset
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office
