POSITION SUMMARY:
The Lab Manager reporting to the Associate Director of the Hematology/Oncology Clinical Research Program is responsible for the receipt processing storage and shipment of human specimens from patients enrolled in clinical research studies.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and overseeing the laboratorys daily technical educational and research support activities; addressing and resolving issues as they arise.
- Ordering research kits supplies and other materials necessary for the collection processing storage and shipment of biospecimens according to the requirements of individual clinical studies within the Cancer and Hematology Clinical Research Program.
- Organizing and storing patient samples in compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements to protect personnel and preserve sample integrity.
- Coordinating and shipping human biospecimens to research collaborators and industry sponsors.
- Monitoring and maintaining the availability of research kits.
- Ensuring laboratory equipment and workspace are clean wellorganized and properly maintained.
- Preparing and shipping research kits as needed.
- Retrieving tissue biospecimens from the Pathology Department.
- Overseeing laboratory safety including chemical and biological safety compliance and ensuring laboratory personnel complete HIPAA and safety training.
- Assisting clinical research coordinators research nurses and program managers with clinical research activities as required.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors degree required.
EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience in a research setting laboratory environment or handling human biological specimens.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Proficiency in operating standard laboratory equipment used in cancer research.
- Ability to understand and accurately follow complex technical instructions with strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of ethical and technical standards in research (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word Excel Access PowerPoint Outlook) and web browsers.
- Strong organizational skills teamwork abilities and the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality of all personal and healthsensitive information.
