Summary of Position

Serves as the technology expert for political program advocacy and engagement. Develops manages and maintains the database for NRECAs grassroots network Voices for Cooperative Power. Manages all advocacy technology platforms and tactics including websites social media platforms and activation landing pages. Analyzes efficacy of campaign tactics and mechanics and recommends areas of opportunity and revision. Contributes to issue advocacy campaign plans and ensures they are executed as planned tracked and reported.

As a member of our Government Relations department you will be joining a team that advocates on behalf of NRECA members on federal legislative and regulatory matters and in national policy forums and develops and trains our grassroots to impact policies at the federal state and local level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maximizes and maintains advocacy infrastructure to ensure successful recruitment training mobilization recognition and retention of advocates.
  • Manages and leads the WordPress technology platform utilized for grassroots advocacy. Manages content maintenance and structure of grassroots advocacy websites social media pages and other digital content.
  • Leads all grassroots technology platforms and comfortable learning new technologies including CRM systems.
  • Submits posts and distributes advocacy content and materials to include email blasts action alerts social media content text messages and blogs.
  • Assesses areas of opportunity for advocacy technology/data and regularly communicates results to the SVP Government Relations and other internal audiences.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for statewide associations on grassroots technology and advocacy database management.
  • Learns new technologies including CRM systems.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelors degree in political science government communications or a related field.
  • 5 or more years of experience in issue advocacy political engagement programs government or associations.
  • Knowledge of the federal legislative process and public policy issues impacting the electric cooperative world.
  • Understanding of NRECAs structure strategy and membership.
  • Expertise in grassroots strategies tactics and engagement platforms.
  • Experience leading issue advocacy campaigns.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage competing deadlines and multiple projects effectively.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Capitol Hill or political campaign experience preferred.
  • Ability to use or experience with WordPress Canva and NetForum.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time the job is rated for light work.
