Description

Parttime position: Nonexempt position (25 hours per week) includes day evening and weekend hours


Starting salary: $20.59$30.89 with a starting hourly wage of $20.59/hour

DUTIES

  • Provides consistent gracious and friendly service to internal and external customers.
  • Understands and enforces District policies and procedures while safeguarding intellectual freedom and patron privacy.
  • Provides training for patrons and staff of all ages in the correct operation and effective use of digital media software and audio/video equipment.
  • Plans prepares and conducts programs and crossdepartmental programs.
  • Monitors and secures the use of audio/video equipment computers Studio spaces and supplies.
  • Helps to implement the use of technology.
  • Diagnoses equipment and software related problems and performs preventative and routine maintenance with limited instruction.
  • Schedules appointments for use of public workstations production spaces and training.
  • Assists with scriptwriting preproduction production activities and post production tasks such as editing sound recording special effects titles and graphics for print/audio/video productions that highlight District activities.
  • Participates in library wide committees for special projects strategic planning and new library initiatives. Serves as liaison for library in programming initiatives with external agencies.
  • Prepares and submits required records and reports in keeping with the policies and procedures of the library. Collects daily statistics and prepares monthly departmental statistical reports.
  • Creates bibliographies flyers blogs and other print or online library promotional materials under guidance of the Studio Services Manager.
  • Keeps informed of current information and trends. Participates in professional development activities relating to areas of responsibility.
  • Performs general duties including stocking inventory cleaning and organizing.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education: Requires multimedia audio and video production photography computer graphic skills or other related field expertise acquired through completion of a Media Production/TV Certificate or a two year Associates degree or a high school diploma with additional specialized training.


Experience: At least three years of current and related experience in a related field required. Media training and customer service experience preferred.


Skills:

  • Strong knowledge in Mac and Windows operating systems and hardware.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with audio video animation photography illustration music and related consumer and professional digital media content creation software (Adobe Creative Cloud iLife etc.) and production equipment.
  • Ability to effectively adapt to and integrate new technologies.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor problems with computer hardware software and peripherals.
  • Ability to incorporate technology into programming and other public services.
  • Ability to exercise reasonable and independent judgment and discretion.
  • Ability manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Strong knowledge on emerging technologies in the digital media field. Strong knowledge of DIY Maker skills and coding experience.
  • Basic knowledge of reference techniques and digital information retrieval. Basic knowledge of productivity suites and integrated library systems.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize data to produce new or revised processes and procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to change.

Communication:

  • Communicates effectively in English both orally and in writing. Speaking skills in other languages particularly Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with staff and public.
  • Ability to stay calm and effective in difficult situations.
  • Ability to empathize and relate to the needs of all patrons.
  • Ability to translate technology into basic methodologies while training patrons and staff. Strong public presentation and instructional skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the functions of this job.


Physical requirements include: good speaking hearing and vision ability ability to push carts of library materials weighing up to 100 pounds daily lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds daily.


WORKING CONDITIONS

Work is performed in a typical library environment. Parttime position. Requires weekend and evening work.
