Salary: 55516 Dependent Upon Experience

About E&TT
Energy & Transportation Technology (E&TT) is part of Resource Industries with responsibilities for research and development in conventional reciprocating engine technologies alternative fuels and emerging low carbon advanced powertrain technologies. E&TT has staff and R&D facilities based in the United States and the United Kingdom and work with leading universities to develop innovative solutions.
Job Summary
This position is based at the Peterborough campus and will be involved in projects related to:
Lead project definition and provide technical solutions for evaluation via simulation and test
Providing product development technical and project management interface to management and internal clients.
Application of simulation tools and methods and practical application of theory and concepts.
Testing products analysing test data and making modifications to meet customer requirements.
Requires an accredited engineering degree with a focus on thermodynamics and combustion.
10% travel (mainly to other UK facilities some international travel).
What You Will Have
Required Skills:
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decisionmaking process and associated tools and techniques.
Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts tools and techniques.
Technical Excellence:
Practical experience of Compression Ignition and Spark Ignition engines including alternative fuels.
Ability to see and solve problems using Lean methodologies and share outcomes with stakeholders.
Working as part of a team to provide customer solutions.
Working knowledge of alternative fuels and the implications of each fuels characteristics on the engine design
Product Testing:
Knowledge of product testing approaches techniques and tools.
Coordinating execution of test plans including resources strategy schedules processes and tools.
Knowledge of troubleshooting approaches tools and techniques.
Top Candidates will have:
Extensive knowledge of compression and spark ignited engines and alternative fuels.
Extensive experience of combustion system and supporting system design and the thermodynamics of internal combustion engines.
Extensive experience working with 1D simulation tools.
