Title: Athletic Trainer
Reports To: Director of Strength and Conditioning
Status & Classification: FullTime Salary Exempt
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention assessment treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for all studentathletes. This individual works closely with coaches school nurses physicians and parents to ensure the health and safety of students participating in sports.
Essential Functions
- Provide first aid and emergency care for studentathletes during practices games and events.
- Evaluate athletic injuries and determine appropriate treatment or referral to medical professionals.
- Develop and implement rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.
- Maintain accurate records of injuries treatments and progress notes.
- Create and enforce policies on injury prevention conditioning and nutrition.
- Communicate with coaches athletes parents and the school nurse and medical professionals regarding athletes injuries to ensure alignment on treatment recovery and return to play.
- Set up and manage athletic training supplies and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and school policies regarding athletic health care.
- Attend games and practices; travel to away games as needed.
- Ensure compliance with the UIL and Jesuit Dallas medical protocols including concussions.
- Demonstrate commitment to Jesuit Dallas mission and the formation of wellrounded studentathletes.
- Complete and manage any other duties or responsibilities as defined by Director of Strength and Conditioning or the Athletic Administrators.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Athletic Training or related field advanced degree preferred.
- Current Athletic Trainer in Texas License (LAT)
- Current BOC certification with the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA)
- CPR AED and First Aid Certification
- Strong communication organizational and decisionmaking skills.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Ability to work extended hours including evenings and weekends.
- Ability to work offcampus as required by the training coverage schedule.
- Ability to work in highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges deadlines and a diverse array of contacts.
- May work at a desk or a computer for an extended period.
- Physically demanding including standing for long periods and occasionally lift up to 50lbs.
