Social Media and Content Manager (12month Maternity Leave Replacement)

The Cause
Founded in 2004 Apathy is Boring is a national youthled nonpartisan charitable organization that supports and educates youth to be active and contributing citizens in Canadas democracy.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director of Communications & Strategic Engagement the Social Media & Content Manager is responsible for shaping and leading Apathy is Borings digital voice and presence across all platformsincluding Instagram TikTok Facebook and LinkedIn. This 12month maternity leave contract is a key leadership role on the Comms team and includes overseeing and collaborating with the Social Media Coordinator.

Youll collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to build and execute creative strategic and highimpact digital content that drives engagement builds community and supports AisBs mission of empowering youth to be active participants in democracy.
Youre a strong digital storyteller with a pulse on youth culture civic issues and social trends and youre ready to take the reins of a dynamic content strategy that reaches and resonates.

Wage
$3336 per hour based on experience

Schedule and Contract Term
FullTime 12month Maternity Leave Replacement (37.5 hours per week)

Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy & Execution
  • Lead the planning creation and execution of AisBs social media content strategy across platforms
  • Manage the social content calendar ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and campaign goals
  • Use insights and analytics to track performance and continuously optimize content

Team Leadership & Collaboration
  • Supervise and support the Social Media Coordinator providing mentorship clear guidance and feedback
  • Collaborate with the Programs Research & Impact and Advocacy teams to amplify recruitment campaigns and civic engagement efforts
  • Maintain alignment with the Communications departments broader strategies and goals

Content Creation & Brand Voice
  • Oversee the production of multimedia content (graphics shortform video reels etc.)
  • Write and review platformspecific copy that is informative shareable and reflective of our tone and values
  • Identify content opportunities trends and innovations that keep AisBs channels fresh and engaging

Community Engagement & Digital Culture
  • Monitor engage and build community on all platforms in a responsive and authentic way
  • Collaborate with creators partners and influencers to amplify reach on a campaign basis
  • Stay current on internet culture civic trends and platform shifts

Admin & Project Management
  • Track budgets deliverables and timelines for digital content projects and campaigns
  • Provide reports and insights to the Director of Communications & Strategic Engagement
  • Contribute to internal communications team meetings and crossdepartmental coordination


What You Bring
  • 3 years managing social media platforms ideally in a youthfocused or nonprofit context
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff
  • Strong ability to effectively brief agencies/creators for content
  • Excellent copywriting editing and visual storytelling abilities
  • Familiarity with tools like Figma Canva Adobe Creative Suite and basic video editing apps
  • Deep understanding of digital engagement content trends and youth culture
  • Interest & knowledge in civic engagement and social justice
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
