Job Description

  • Employment Type: Part Time; 21 hours per week
  • Duration: 1 Years Fixed Term
  • Remuneration: Level 5 $85717 pro rata 17% super annual leave loading
  • Location: Kensington campus NSW
  • This is an oncampus role based at Kensington and the successful candidate will be required to work on site.

Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold unrestricted work rights to be considered for this position.

Why this role matters:

The Research Assistant will support the Memory and Ageing Study 2 (MAS2) a major longitudinal study focused on cognitive ageing in older adults. This role involves conducting inperson interviews with participants and their informants administering neuropsychological tests brief medical exams and structured questionnaires. The successful candidate will play a key role in collecting accurate data to help evaluate participants cognitive physical and emotional health.

In addition to facetoface data collection the Research Assistant will oversee the administration of online questionnaires maintain accurate records and assist with data entry and daytoday study operations. The role requires strong attention to detail excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage professionally and sensitively with older adults. This is a great opportunity to contribute meaningfully to research in ageing and cognitive health.

The position reports to the Chief Investigator and has no direct reports.

Skills Required:

  • Minimum of an Honours degree or equivalent in psychology behavioural science or a related discipline or an equivalent level of knowledge gained through a combination of education training and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience and accuracy in maintaining a large database.
  • Previous professional experience in supporting research with demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with cognitive ageing and dementia.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise your own workload and work independently as well as an effective member of a team.
  • Demonstrated high level of written and oral communication skills and a friendly manner with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word Excel) online survey design (REDCap) Statistical software (SPSS) and generic and academic search engines.
  • Current (full) Drivers license with willingness and ability to travel to sites within Sydney to conduct responsibilities and/or tasks.
  • Knowledge of equal opportunity principles.

  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
