Where youll be working:

Join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as part of the Youth Engagement Service (YES) where youll work with young people experiencing acute mental health distress. This is a 12month temporary fulltime position embedded within the Hunter Valley Mental Health Team based in Maitlanda vibrant regional centre surrounded by picturesque wine country bushland and easy access to Newcastle.

The YES initiative places CAMHS clinicians within adult mental health teams offering assertive flexible and communitybased support for young people up to the age of 24. Youll be joining a skilled compassionate and responsive multidisciplinary team committed to delivering personcentred care and improving outcomes for young people and their families.


About the role:

In this impactful role you will:

  • Provide culturally safe traumainformed and developmentally appropriate mental health assessment and treatment
  • Deliver shortterm evidencebased interventions to young people in crisis
  • Offer specialist advice and consultation to adult mental health colleagues
  • Facilitate smooth transitions from CAMHS to adult mental health services
  • Collaborate with multiple stakeholderswithin health government and communitymanaged agenciesto ensure integrated and responsive care


About you:

You are a senior mental health clinician who is:

  • Emotionally intelligent and clientfocused
  • Passionate about working with young people in acute mental health distress
  • Skilled in navigating complex systems and transitions
  • A strong communicator with excellent interpersonal and collaborative abilities
  • Committed to traumainformed culturally competent and recoveryoriented practice

Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualifications in Psychology Occupational Therapy Social Work or Nursing
  • AHPRA registration or eligibility for membership with a relevant professional body
  • Demonstrated experience supporting young people in acute mental health settings
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the local region
  • Commitment to regular supervision and ongoing professional development
