JOB SUMMARY
Assists pharmacists in the day to day operation of various medication distribution programs and support activities which are necessary to the provision of institutional pharmacy services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Makes regular pickup/delivery rounds to nursing units and other departments as per policy
Fills medication orders under the supervision of a pharmacist
Prepares and delivers IV admixtures under the supervision of a pharmacist
Fills order for controlled substances
Maintains floor stock as assigned
Prepacks medication in unit dose containers under the supervision of a pharmacist
Assists with patient charging ordering and inventory
Assists with Quality Assurance and Drug Use Evaluation activities
Assists pharmacists with other duties
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent Required
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Required Licenses
West Virginia United States Other
WV State licensed Pharmacy Technician. If not licensed employee must obtain WV State Pharmacy TechnicianTrainee license prior to hire and complete our 500 hour onthejob training program. Trainee must WV StatePharmacy Technician license within 90 days of completing the program.
WV State Pharmacy Intern license is acceptable in lieu of technician or trainee license.
PTCB certification preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
Previous experience in pharmacy or another medically related field preferred. Demonstrated willingness to perform routine repetitive tasks on a continuous basis and maintain a neat and orderly work area. Automation experience preferred.
