ACourse Description:
This course examines the development and significance of international law and institutions in contemporary responses to environmental issues ranging from biodiversity to global climate change. Other topics regularly considered include ozone protection and international air pollution hazardous waste transfers transboundary waters forests and environmental protection of the Arctic and Antarctic polar regions. The course also addresses international lawmaking institutions and processes the enforcement and effectiveness of international environmental law and the relationship between international law principles and norms (sustainability biodiversity and precaution for example) and the domestic Canadian legal regime. In addition interrelationships between international environmental law and other international legal regimes such as those governing trade human rights public health development finance and intellectual property are considered.Posting limited to:

The Common Law Section is seeking candidates who are leaders in the legal profession. An LL.B. J.D. or equivalent is for this position. Membership in the Law Society of Ontario in good standing is also . The successful candidate will have significant expertise and experience related to international environmental law. Prior teaching experience will be considered an asset.
The Common Law Section reserves the right to select a candidate who does not fully meet each of these requirements where the candidates selection would be beneficial to the program the course the students or for a related reason.

The candidate may be required to teach this course either online inperson or hybrid mode at the discretion of the Faculty and in accordance with public health guidelines.An acceptable level of education and/or experience could be viewed as being equivalent to the educational required and/or demonstrated experience.
