STV is seeking a Materials Specialist to play a critical role in a $3$5 billion dollar project in our Construction and Materials group in Florida. These organizations are responsible for rehabilitating the existing roadway infrastructure and implementing the construction program for the expansion and extension of the turnpike. The ideal candidate has a strong desire to learn and develop organizational and leadership skills and must be curious and motivated to continuously improve existing processes through innovative concepts.
Responsibilities:
Learn and apply the basics of the FDOT Construction & Materials business.
Contract administration support for material & geotechnical consultant contracts.
Technical assistance and support for Materials acceptance on active construction projects.
Assist in the development review and improvement of business plans and initiatives.
Rotate between Materials disciplines to assist Senior Managers with business activities and become proficient in performing various Materials tasks.
Assist with updating analyzing and improving Materials Project control systems and capabilities.
Assist Senior Managers in reviewing analyzing and recommending the disposition of failing materials inspection and test reports.
Develop competency with inspection testing reporting and applying specifications for materials used in Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) highway and bridge construction.
Skills
Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and to large groups of people.
Knowledge and proficiency with information technology and computer programs. Some examples include Microsoft Office SharePoint Power BI and GIS.
Knowledge of engineering concepts terminology principles and techniques.
Education
Engineering or Construction degree or currently pursuing a degree
4 year civil engineering degree or 4 year construction management degree.
