UI/UX Designer Automotive HMI
The role of a UI/UX Designer specializing in Automotive HumanMachine Interface (HMI) is crucial in todays automotive landscape integrating advanced technology with usercentered design. This position focuses on designing intuitive interfaces that enhance user interaction with car systems ensuring safety efficiency and an enjoyable driving experience. Additionally the emergence of electric and autonomous vehicles heightens the need for skilled designers who can create compelling user experiences while navigating complex technical challenges. The UI/UX Designer works closely with crossfunctional teams including engineering product management and marketing to translate user research and business needs into functional aesthetically pleasing designs. This position not only significantly impacts product usability and customer satisfaction but also contributes to the overall brand image of the organization. Ultimately the UI/UX Designers role is instrumental in defining how drivers and passengers connect with their vehicles balancing technology and usability to foster innovation in the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct user research to gather insights on user needs and preferences.
- Create user personas and journey maps to define target demographics.
- Collaborate with product managers to define design requirements and specifications.
- Design wireframes and prototypes for HMI systems.
- Develop and implement visual design elements that align with brand identity.
- Conduct usability testing to gather feedback on designs and enhancements.
- Iterate designs based on user feedback and testing results.
- Create design guidelines/corporate identity books to ensure consistency.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are feasible and practical.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and new technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
- Facilitate design reviews and presentations to stakeholders.
- Advocate for the enduser and promote usercentric design principles.
- Document design processes and create specifications for product development.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to foster innovative ideas.
- Mentor junior designers and provide constructive feedback.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Design HumanComputer Interaction or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in UI/UX design with a focus on automotive systems.
- Strong portfolio showcasing design projects preferably within the automotive sector.
- Proficiency in design software such as Sketch Figma or Adobe XD.
- Experience with HMI design principles and guidelines.
- Excellent understanding of usercentered design methodologies.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for crossfunctional collaboration.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with attention to detail.
- Handson experience with user testing and analysis tools.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Knowledgeable in accessibility standards and best practices.
- Proven problemsolving abilities and a creative mindset.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret user data and metrics.
- Understanding of frontend development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) is a plus.
- Passion for automotive technology and innovation.
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology and user needs.
