Job Description

NBC6 (WTVJ) and Telemundo 51 (WSCV) the NBCUniversalowned duopoly in South Florida are seeking a strong bilingual journalist to help lead our duopolys morning newscasts. This person will oversee editorial and logistics decisionmaking in the overnight hours to ensure we are sharing duopoly resources. The right candidate will focus on winning breaking news traffic and weather. We want someone who will encourage the team to produce engaging and compelling storytelling on multiple platforms. This is a great role for an outstanding producer to move into a management role and develop a balance between leading people and managing the production of the newscasts.


Responsibilities:

  • Work with news staff to produce relatable news that has the greatest impact on peoples lives.
  • Make coverage decisions with a priority on whats breaking new or looking ahead.
  • Approve rundowns and newscast scripts.
  • Direct and deliver production elements on a deadline.
  • Review daily lineup of stories and segments; develop future segments stories and interviews for all platforms.
  • Meet daily with staff including digital to review resources content and coverage plans.
  • Oversee and coordinate breaking news coverage.
  • Fill in for a producer for either station when needed.
  • Work on special projects as assigned.
  • Assist with hiring and scheduling.
  • Ensure production resources and expectations are clearly defined and communicated.
  • Possess strong news judgment within legal and ethical guidelines.
  • Have a strong attention to detail.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to newsroom employees.
  • Perform other newsroom supervisory duties as assigned by either News Director and/or Assistant News Director.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork respect and inclusion.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum of four years of experience producing newscasts in a medium or large market.
  • Must possess strong journalistic skills have ability to write and edit broadcast and digital copy.
  • Creative approach to storytelling and problem solving.
  • Ability to make priority decisions under deadlines.
  • Must be selfdirected highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Must function well in a fast paced multicultural environment.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English both written and spoken.
  • B.A. degree or equivalent in areas such as Journalism & Communications or related field

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must have a flexible schedule with ability to work any of a 24x7 shift and willingness to travel and work long hours and on weekends and holidays with short notice.
  • Able to work extended and flexible hours during hurricanes emergency situations and breaking news.
  • Must be willing to work in Miramar FL
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must have a valid Drivers License
