Summary:
Under the supervision of a licensed precepting Speech Language Pathologist the clinical fellow performs therapy examinations develops treatment plans and goals and applies interventions in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the profession applicable state licensure regulations and hospital policies and procedures to a variety of patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric in age in an acute care setting. Opportunity for rotation to outpatient sites may exist per operational need.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs therapy examinations develops treatment plans and establishes treatment goals with patient input under the supervision of a licensed SLP.
2. Provides care to special populations including Stroke as per hospital protocols.
3. Delegates and supervises patient related tasks to assistants aides and support personnel.
4. Collaborates with other disciplines to provide coordinated interdisciplinary patient care.
5. Supports excellence of the organization and customer satisfaction.
6. Contributes to the ongoing professional development of self department and the network.
7. Manages time effectively and demonstrates willingness to work a variety of scheduling patterns within individual control hours.
8. Makes clinical decisions under the supervision of a licensed SLP within the scope of defined job description level of knowledge skills and abilities and seeks guidance as necessary for performance of duties.
9. Utilizes evidencebased practice and ASHA guidelines for patient care.
10. Meets productivity and documentation requirements as defined.
11. Accepts and utilizes feedback in a constructive manner and demonstrates respect for others in open and constructive communications.
12. Under the supervision and with the support of a licensed SLP performs instrumental swallow exams including Modified Barium Swallow and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow studies.

14. Accepts other duties as assigned. Adheres to all departmental and hospital policies.
Other Information:
Prefer:
Previous experience delivering comprehensive care to patients with dysfunction secondary to disability disease or injury in accordance with professional standards of practice.
Previous experience in an acute care setting with diagnoses including pulmonary oncology multitrauma neurological surgical and medically complex patients.
Previous Experience performing instrumental swallow exams including Modified Barium Swallow and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallow studies.
Working Conditions:
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
