Health and Safety Officer Johannesburg R40000R50000 CTC pm
Seeking a responsible Safety Officer to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines for two companies. The primary role will be advising on measures to minimize hazards and maintain a safe working environment for both a manufacturing and repair company as well as a machining company on a fixed scheduled basis.
Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety Environmental Science or related field.
- Proven experience working as a Health and Safety Officer preferably in the Engineering Industry.
- Indepth knowledge of South African health and safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent analytical skills to identify potential hazards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train employees and communicate safety policies.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g. SAMTRAC NEBOSH ISO 45001) is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using computer software and applications related to safety management.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain accurate records and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Problemsolving mindset and ability to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Develop implement and maintain health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local and national regulations.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Provide training to employees on safety protocols emergency procedures and the use of safety equipment.
- Investigate accidents incidents and near misses and prepare detailed reports outlining root causes and preventive measures.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify specific safety needs and develop customized safety programs.
- Monitor and assess workplace conditions machinery and equipment to ensure they meet safety regulations.
- Keep abreast of changes in health and safety regulations and ensure the companys compliance.
- Maintain records of inspections training and incidents and produce regular reports for management review.
- Participate in safety committees and meetings to discuss and address safety concerns.
- Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies for hazard mitigation.
