Duties & Responsibilities:
In conjunction with the Principal Investigator and CoPrincipal Investigator conduct research training and service in the area of measurement assessment and evaluation for elementary and secondary STEM education and special education.
Develop and pilot projectbased assessment and survey instruments and refine to improve the quality of the instruments.
Develop and organize various project forms such as consents and assents registration forms waiver forms liability forms etc.
Lead IRB submissions.
Lead administration data collection and entry including creation and management of data tracking system and protocols for multiple projects.
Mentor and teach other staff and graduate assistants on data collection and entry.
Analyze longitudinal crosssectional categorical latent multivariate or multilevel data to advance knowledge in the field of educational and disability research.
Analyze themes and patterns of qualitative data such as focus groups interviews and observations to deepen the understanding of educational phenomena for researchers and practitioners in the field of educational and disability research.
Recommend improvements based on the analyses to inform policies at the national and/or local level impacting the field of educational and disability research.
Write and disseminate technical data analysis reports to inform funders and researchers in the field of STEM and special education.
Compose schoolbased progress reports and briefs to inform stakeholders project participants and other practitioners in the field of STEM and special education of the project effects impacts and successes.
Lead the evaluation and composition of project process and outcome evaluation reports to facilitate discussion and discourse in the field of STEM and special education.
Direct and implement project activities such as Saturday and after school sessions and Hawaii Department of Education break camps.
Publish and present research findings with project members to further understanding and best practices in the field of STEM and special education.
Maintain a research and scholarly profile as obtaining new state or federal grant funding to expand research training and services of the CDS with project members.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Masters degree from a college or university of recognized standing in educational psychology psychology statistics education or a related field.
Accuracy alertness and adaptability.
Professionalism in meeting and conferring with others.
At least two years of working experience in analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and writing data analysis reports.
Familiarity with a state or federal grant funded educational project.
At least one year of working experience in managing merging and cleaning databases.
Experience in administering surveys and conducting interviews focus groups and observations with students teachers and parents.
Experience presenting and/or conducting workshops on evaluation process or results and/or on specific data analysis techniques.
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively on assigned tasks prioritize tasks and see tasks through completion.
Ability to travel independently and in a timely manner to various geographical locations. Requirement may be fulfilled by a valid Hawaii Drivers license (Class 3) comparable drivers license or other means of transportation which meets position needs.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in conducting research in Hawaii schools.
Experience in administering locally responsive evaluation and assessment.
Experience in conducting process and outcome evaluation and writing an evaluation report for a state or federal funded project.
Experience with participating in grant writing.
Experience in analyzing a largescale dataset.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Successful record of publication and conference presentations.
