Skills You Bring to This Role
Experience in performance analysis and tuning skills such as tracing and profiling and Dynamic Management Views and Functions (DMVs) and the ability to run down scenarios such as deadlocks concurrency locking/blocking related incidents.
TSQL and ANSI SQL skills that include a thorough understanding of system tables stored procedures functions triggers windowed functions CTEs recursive queries pivots merge upsert and advance analytic techniques.
Experience with VLDBs of 20TB and an understanding of partition/compression is required. Experience with other enterprise grade features in SQL Server such as replication mirroring is a plus.
Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) Power BI Report Server (PBIRS) Power BI (PBI) and ability to work with and interact with data engineers in helping define appropriate secure techniques for doing Extract Transform Load (ETL) within the environment.
Understanding of Windows Server operating system performance monitoring and associated tools.
Exposure to and usage of Redgate tools is a plus.
Experience with logical and physical data models in partnership with the data architects and applications developers.
What you need to be Successful:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science Software Engineering Management Information Systems or other relevant degree.
10 years experience in the design implementation and support of SQL Server databases.
Indepth understanding of Windows Server Failover Cluster (WSFC) and enterprise SQL Server Failover Cluster installations/SQL Server Always On is required.
Knowledge of related infrastructure tools and services in support of SQL Server databases such as storage compute backup technologies and disaster recovery.
Proficiency in Microsoft PowerShell for scripting.
Indepth knowledge and use of tools such as DBAtools and other modules is required.
Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance is required.
SQL Server certification(s) preferred.

Infrastructure
As a SQL Server Database Architect (DBA) you will be responsible for successful support and maintenance of the SQL Server environment. You will collaborate with the DBA team and other IT application teams in providing efficient DBA support. Reporting to the Manager of the DBA support team you will be involved in patching upgrading tuning and stabilizing of the SQL Server environment to support our clients core business objectives.
What youll be doing as a SQL Server DBA
Establish and maintain written best practices and operational procedures as build books and checklists.
Maintain appropriate database (DB) lifecycle and automated processes to keep Configuration Items (CI) and audit items uptodate and easily maintained.
Collaborate with the DBA team to monitor and resolve the incoming tickets in the DBA support queue.
Ensure the proper setup and validation of backup and restore and ensure daily backups and maintenance are working as designed and implemented.
Analyze and document the current SQL Server environment which includes the servers instances databases and their disk allocations and system allocations as Central Processing Unit (CPU) and memory.
Support SQL Server versionsincluding: Database Engine Integration Services Reporting Services and Analysis Services which includes but not limited to SQL server installation database creation according to best practices setup of backup and recovery procedures and proactive performance tuning.
Deliver on assigned SQL Server Infrastructure projects including but not limited to new software releases patch upgrades feature exploitation security and audit.
