About the workplace
The VCIM team is looking for an Institutional Trader to manage daily institutional trading workflows for the VCIM Fund Subadvisory business. The candidate must have experience on a buy side or sell side trading desk understand the Bloomberg trading environment and be comfortable trading in a multicustodian environment.
This is a permanent fulltime role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the VCIM office and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work inoffice at least once a week.
A typical day would involve:
- Managing the daily trading workflows for the Fund Subadvisory team
- Executing equity trades using traditional and electronic strategies
- Conducting transaction cost analysis and posttrade analytics to measure trading efficiency and identify areas for improvement
- Developing best execution practices and processes
- Analyzing systems data securities and marketplaces against cashflows and portfolio requirements and providing detailed feedback to VCIM Portfolio Managers for strategic decisionmaking purposes
- Operating maintaining and enhancing the Bloomberg environment used to support trading workflows
- Leading the implementation of key projects to enhance VCIMs trading capabilities for new and existing products
- Troubleshooting and resolving trading and technical issues in a timely and risk appropriate manner
- Managing relationships with brokers vendors and the Investment Management Team
You have:
- An undergraduate degree in a highly quantitative field such as Applied Math Statistics Engineering Mathematical Finance Finance or Economics
- Outstanding quantitative problemsolving skills and mathematical aptitude
- At least 5 years of experience on a buyside or sellside trading desk at a Canadian financial institution
- Strong knowledge of trading benchmarks execution strategies and market microstructure
- Strong programming background and experience configuring and operating complicated trading technology
- Strong relationship management skills while working in a fastpaced highly competitive environment with tight deadlines and competing priorities
- Proficiency with trading platforms and tools (OMS/EMS systems) and multicustodian trading workflows
- A working knowledge of the rules regulations procedures and policies governing this work
- High ethical standards and a commitment to uphold fiduciary responsibilities
- The ability to manage trading activities during nonstandard hours including Asian and European time zones
- A Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation would be a strong asset

The base salary range for this role is $annually plus incentive pay annually. The upper half of the salary range is typically reserved for individuals who have demonstrated consistent strong performance in the role and possess a high level of job knowledge and skill.
