The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West Great South Upper wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of Services including: GP Clinics Primary Health Care Counselling NDIS and community host various programs. SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a high calibre outcomedriven Human Resources professional to join our growing organisation. Reporting directly to the Human Resources Coordinator this is a true HR generalist role which requires a practical handson professional responsible for all aspects of the HR function across the business. You will be working with a collaborative team of HR Officers to support teams across the organisation. This could be either a full time or part time opportunity so let us know what hours work for you!

The Human Resources Officer is responsible for providing administrative and operational support to the Human Resources Manager in areas such as: recruitment and selection staff inductions employee relations and the review and development of organisational HR policy and procedures. The occupant will also maintain SWAMS human resources databases including all personnel records and files.

The SWAMS is dedicated to enhancing employment opportunities and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. To promote equality and support this position will be subject to Section 51 of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA). Aboriginal people are strongly encouraged to apply.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience in HR recruitment or induction practices;
  • Strong understanding of Fair Work legislation and relevant Awards
  • Welldeveloped administrative skills including strong attention to detail accuracy and time management skills;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in contributing to a small team including capacity to review and improve workplace practices;
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with applicants external organisations management and staff at all levels of SWAMS;
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively communicate both written and verbal;
  • Demonstrated capacity to promote and uphold HR initiatives and values including discretion and confidentiality;
  • Well developed computer skills and demonstrated proficiency in the use of business technology and desktop applications including the use of Microsoft Office suite and database packages;
  • Well organised with the ability to effectively plan and coordinate own workload.
  • The ability to communicate sensitively with Aboriginal people with an understanding of the health and social issues that impact on the Aboriginal community;

Highly Regarded

  • Experience utilising HR software programs specifically Employment Hero;
  • General knowledge and experience across the HR spectrum of responsibilities
  • WH&S knowledge and experience
  • Diploma or tertiary level qualification in Human Resources or significant experience in a generalist or administrative human resource capacity
