Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing accounting operations ensuring accuracy in financial reporting maintaining compliance with accounting standards and supporting financial decisionmaking. This role plays a critical part in monthend closings cost accounting inventory management and internal controls within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead monthend and yearend closing processes ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS.
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Manage and analyze cost accounting processes including standard costing variances and inventory valuation.
Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions across manufacturing and warehousing operations.
Partner with operations to understand production costs and implement cost control initiatives.
Prepare journal entries accruals and account reconciliations.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
Ensure compliance with internal controls company policies and regulatory requirements.
Support external audits by providing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.
Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to system enhancements or ERP optimization.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (CPA preferred).
5 years of progressive accounting experience preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of GAAP/IFRS cost accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g. SAP Oracle NetSuite or similar).
Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities.
Detailoriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma environments.
Familiarity with inventory control systems and standard costing.
Working knowledge of tax filings and compliance in a manufacturing context.
