Position: Postdoctoral Associate (5 months)

Position Description and Responsibilities:
The Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering (BEE) invites applications for a shortterm Postdoctoral Associate position in mathematical modeling and engineering simulation of food processes. The appointment is for five months MaySept 2025.
Roles of Postdoctoral Associate anticipated division of time: 100%:
The postdoc will work closely with the faculty instructor to develop digital simulations of food processes eventually turning them into apps for decision making. The project is expected to lead to conference presentations and/or archival journal articles in engineering.
The candidate is expected to pursue a research program in the areas of computational mechanics and/or heat and mass transfer related to manufacturing. Modeling work can be mechanistic datadriven or hybrid and novel applications would be welcome.
Requirements A Ph.D. in an engineering discipline. The candidate must have relevant background in at least two of the following areas: Solid mechanics Transport phenomena Computational modeling Multiphase transport in porous media and Machine Learning
