Job Description:
Produces machined parts by programming setting up and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine. Maintaining quality and safety standards keeping records and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Essential Responsibilities May Include:
- Creates instructions for machining parts using MasterCam
- Reviews 3D CAD design blueprints (SolidWorks)
- Makes calculations for programming including where materials should be cut
- Translates instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (CAM) program
- Communicates with engineers and clients who will use the programs
- Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests
- Determines sequence of operations in a program
- Writes programs and modifies existing ones for increased efficiency
- Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs
- Prepares and sets up CNC machines to run first parts
- Responsible for making complex setups and accomplish precise alignment of work piece in machine and manufacturing to extremely close tolerances on parts of high complexity such as aerospace and other parts as well as parts of low to medium complexity.
- Responsible for independently performing tasks requiring accuracy and mental application in the use of shop mathematics GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) and Feeds & Speed calculations.
Basic Qualifications & Education:
- Minimum of 3 years programming experience in CNC machined parts
- MUST have advanced knowledge of programming
- Strong understanding of 4 and 5 Axis machining materials processes and tolerances
- Mechanically able to assemble and disassemble parts and assemblies
- Selfstarter with excellent time management skills and ability to establish objectives
- Ability to manage multiple duties set priorities and follow tasks through completion
- Capable of working in an environment in which demands and priorities change
- High School diploma or equivalent
