The Opportunity: Marketing Communications Intern

We are looking for a creative detailoriented and tech savvy marketing and communications intern to join our team this summer! This position is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in a handson marketing role and contribute to the Ys impact as a local charity. Our ideal candidate would be skilled in digital media/videography. Valued skill sets also include design social media engagement and analytics. Specific responsibilities will depend on applicant skillset but may include:
- Videography with an aim to share impact (storytelling charitable awareness)
- Videography for Health Fitness and Aquatics campaign(s)
- Photography and digital content development
- Campaign execution (from idea generation to execution of marketing tactics)
- Google advertising using Google Ads Grant (Google for nonprofits)
- Dashboard setup in Google Analytics GA4
- Enewsletters and executing targeted member communications strategies
- Organization of data file naming tags and systems development as we transition to SharePoint
- Responding to customer inquiries through digital channels
- Website edits and user experience enhancements
- Seeking out communication opportunities within the Y facilities and throughout the community (including distribution of marketing materials/relationship building)
- Providing administrative and project support within the marketing department
Wed love to hear from people with:
- Experience in marketing communications videography design and/or creative development
- Experience with SharePoint is an asset
- Skills using video and content development tools including CapCut and/or AI content development/editing tools an asset
- Working knowledge of Canva specifically the use of Team Canva within an organization is an asset
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud is an asset
- Superior communications skills (including written) and collaborative attitude
- Ability to learn quickly adapt to changes and contribute to marketing ideas
- Understanding of digital analytics platforms is an asset
- A valuesbased mindset and strong belief in the mission of the YMCA

- Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
Details:
- Location: Association Services Office located at 375 Hartman Road
- Schedule: Fulltime position (8 Week Internship) up to 35 hrs/week
- Benefits: $25.41/hour Y Membership
- This role is funded through Canada Summer Jobs Grant
