Job Description
Ford Model E is responsible for developing the key technologies and capabilities such as EV platforms batteries emotors inverters charging and recycling to create groundup breakthrough electric vehicles. As a Senior Electrical Hardware Systems Engineer you will be the primary technical point of contact for low voltage controllers within the vehicle. You will be responsible for the complete endtoend integration of inhouse electronic control units within the electrical architecture and participate in systemlevel design activities for all interfacing subsystems. You will collaborate closely with the hardware development team providing specifications and requirements for controller design. You will facilitate all related workstreams and ensure seamless integration of your module into the vehicle. You will conceptualize design engineer develop and support the launch of nextgeneration vehicle platform architectures for electric vehicles.
Responsibilities
What youll do...
- Drive creation and development of electrical architecture content and maintain logical hardware block diagrams with all types of inputs and outputs captured and defined
- Serve as primary technical point of contact for your control module creating release artifacts and facilitating communication and collaboration between various teams
- Perform detailed trade studies requirements allocation and interface definition studies to aid in translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
- Partner with the vehicle architecture team to establish electrical system and network communication requirements optimizing designs for electrical hardware
- Utilize ModelBased Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies to effectively define and track electrical interfaces between various system components within the architecture
- Decompose system functionality into modular components collaborate directly with EDS teams to define connection interfaces and I/O allocation based on vehicle topology
- Execute comprehensive technical planning system integration and verification and validation to support prototype bring up activities and ensure functional hardware components
- Identify required test data collection needs and assist with conducting testing to help recreate events identify anomalies and determine corrective actions
Qualifications
Youll have...
B.S in Electrical Computer or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
6 years of experience working on complex electrical systems or electronics designs
Strong understanding of electrical engineering fundamentals and ability to apply them to automotive concepts
Proven debugging and diagnostic skills in electrical mechanical and software domains
Highly skilled in low voltage systems development electric vehicle system architecture functional safety and component level integration planning
Experience with requirements capture in requirements management software platforms (JAMA etc.)
Experience with microprocessorbased system design and development
Familiarity with common communication interfaces such as SPI I2C UART and Ethernet
Excellent teamwork problemsolving communication and project management skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
An eagerness to work crossfunctionally in a dynamic environment where you are part of a high performing team
A systems approach to design and development with the desire and curiosity to strive for exceptional delivery execution and continuous improvement

Masters Degree Electrical Engineering Computer Science Mechanical Engineering or related fields
Handson experience with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes DMMs signal generators power supplies etc.)
Experience with hardware development from concept through production launch in automotive or similar
Experience with Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)
Experience with electrical / electromechanical devices involving networked microcontrollers and embedded software

This position is a salary grade 8.
